As the offseason drags on, there has been one clear storyline that all Seahawks fans have been following, it is the tumultuous Jadeveon Clowney situation. Throughout the past few months, there have been so many rumors and reports about where and when Clowney would sign, and yet he still remains teamless. So, I figured, why not relive that whiplash inducing journey once more, looking back at every major Clowney report and rumor since January (At least the ones I could find). This is a two part post, since the Clowney situation has been so heavily reported on, all the news clippings couldn’t fit into 10 slides. You can check my profile for part one.

I figured it would be interesting to have all of these rumors in one spot, not only to relive the absurdity of it all, but to realize how volatile both this situation and the rumors around it are. This is a two part post, since the Clowney situation has been so heavily reported on. The second part is done and will come tomorrow.

With the schedule releasing a week or so ago, I figured that I could give myself something to laugh at next February, by releasing some way-too-early predictions. After releasing my full predictions for the regular season, both AFC and NFC, I figured I’d cap it off with the playoffs. Again, if you didn’t see my other prediction posts, yes, I know some of these predictions are bold. Since all predictions are going to wind up being wrong, I figured why not create a more interesting hypothetical scenario. In this universe, I have the New Orleans Saints finally getting over the playoff curse that has haunted them the past few years, and winning the Super Bowl, defeating the Buffalo Bills. That roster just has so much talent, and has gotten so unlucky over the past few years. It has to work out sometime, right? How do you feel about my too-early, gut-feeling predictions? Who do you have winning Super Bowl LV?

According to Adam Schefter, the Seahawks have reached an agreement with veteran HB Carlos Hyde. This wasn’t exactly a surprise, rumors around both Hyde and Devonta Freeman were swirling around the past few days, as Penny may not be back to start the season. This signing just gives us some insurance. Since the contract details are not out yet, I’m gonna have to wait and see how much we paid for him before I form a solid opinion. I do like going with Hyde over Freeman, however, because Hyde had a better season last year, and because the reported contract Freeman was requesting was around 4-5 million. That’s too much for an insurance HB. So if we get Hyde on a budget, I’ll be happy with that. What do you think of this move?

With the schedule releasing a week or so ago, I figured that I could give myself something to laugh at next January, by releasing some way-too-early predictions. After doing the NFC yesterday, I move onto the AFC. A few disclaimers first. One, I picked each and every game on the schedule for these predictions, without knowing each team’s records until the very end. I find this makes my predictions more interesting, and helps me avoid any snap judgements, like “The Titans will go 10-6, the Chiefs will go 13-3,” etc. Second, yes, I know these predictions are bold, but that helps me avoid the generic, upset-averse predictions that you always see. Also, these predictions don’t necessarily reflect my entire opinion on a team. I think the Chiefs are better than the Broncos, but because A: The Broncos have an easier schedule due to finishing second last year, and B: Upsets happen, the Broncos have a higher record. How do you feel about my too-early, gut-feeling predictions? How do you see the AFC turning out?

With the schedule releasing a week or so ago, I figured that I could give myself something to laugh at next January, by releasing some way-too-early predictions. I’m starting with the NFC. A few disclaimers first. One, I picked each and every game on the schedule for these predictions, without knowing each team’s records until the very end. I find this makes my predictions more interesting, and helps me avoid any snap judgements, like “The Cowboys will go 10-6, the Niners will go 12-4,” etc. Second, yes, I know these predictions are a little bold, but that helps me avoid the generic, upset-averse predictions that you always see. Also, these predictions don’t necessarily reflect my entire opinion on a team. I think the Saints are better than the Bucs, but because A: The Bucs have an easier schedule due to finishing third last year, and B: Upsets happen, the Bucs have a higher record. How do you feel about my too-early, gut-feeling predictions? How do you see the NFC turning out?

After turning himself in to Broward County jail yesterday, Quinton Dunbar will be released from jail today, after a hearing this morning. Judge Michael Davis ruled that Dunbar could be released on an 100,000 dollar bond, 25,000 dollars for each count of armed robbery. This ruling comes with the conditions that Dunbar give up all fi****ms and not travel out of the state of Florida. This is great news for the Seahawks, as Dunbar will now likely return to the team once the season starts up again. The travel ban on Dunbar will likely be reassessed once he has to report back to the Seahawks, as it was given out with the knowledge that he has no need to travel, with all meetings being virtual at this point. Dunbar’s lawyer made a point to make sure that the travel ban is looked at again when it needs to be, so that’s not something that us Seahawks fans need to worry about right now. This whole situation is likely not over, but it’s turning in the right direction for Dunbar, and prosecutors haven’t found any evidence to counteract the five affidavits from witnesses that cleared Dunbar. A date for a second hearing has not yet been set.

With the end of the 2010s, I have picked the best 53 Seahawks players of the past ten years, in my opinion. I’ve slowly released my picks by position groups, and you can still check those out in the story highlight on my profile, but I figured I should summarize all my picks to end the series. 24 Offensive Players, 26 Defensive Players, and 3 Specialists. This roster was filled out with regular NFL roster restrictions, 53 players on the team. Who did I snub? What would your all-decade team look like? Let me know down below.

The Seahawks have brought back another player from last year, with this re-signing filling in as our backup quarterback. Geno Smith has been brought back on a one-year deal, likely for the veteran’s minimum. I thought we would just ride with Anthony Gordon as our backup for the younger, cheaper option, but it’s good to have a competition, and Geno’s experience could be a valuable asset. It’ll make the preseason more exciting at least. It’ll be interesting to see whether they keep three quarterbacks, or if Smith or Gordon gets cut. While this move means pretty much nothing for the regular season, I love those oh-so-juicy preseason storylines. What do you think of this move?

With the draft wrapping up last week, and after having some time to think on my picks, I figured I could get a draft profile out for each player in this draft class. After doing Jordyn Brooks, I’m moving on to our second round pick, Darrell Taylor. I tried to fit everything I possibly could into this profile. On the first few slides, we have his college stats, his measurables (height, weight, etc.), his combine stats, and where he was projected to go in popular mock drafts. The last few slides are just a few of my thoughts on Taylor and his fit with the team after thinking about it and watching some of his games. What do you think of the Taylor pick? Do you think it was a good use of our second rounder? Let me know down below.

With the end of the 2010s, and my personal team of the decade series coming out, I decided to create a fan-voted team as well, comprising of the best 53 Seahawks of the decade. Today, we look at Linebackers. This list differs quite a bit from mine, at least for the backup roles. I think that is just due to recency bias. Players from the first few years who were solid starters like Hill and Hawthorne were ignored here, probably because they haven’t been on the team in so long. Coyle and Morgan are probably more recognizable names at this point, but I’d rather have Hill/Hawthorne. This roster is filled out with regular NFL roster restrictions, 53 players on the team. Let me know your LB choices.
