Some stories stay with you long after the credits roll.

Not because they were the loudest, but because they felt true.

For two decades, Tasveer has been a place where filmmakers, artists, and audiences come together through stories that cross borders, generations, and perspectives.

As we step into our 21st edition, we're celebrating everything that has brought us here, and all the stories still waiting to find their audience.

Here's to the next chapter.

Tasveer congratulates filmmaker Abinash Bikram Shah on the World Premiere of Nepali film “Elephants in the Fog” in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, 2026. It was an honor to witness this extraordinary and deeply moving cinematic achievement on the global stage.

With breathtaking sensitivity and artistic brilliance, Abinash Bikram Shah has created a masterpiece that centers and uplifts the Kinnar/trans community with humanity, dignity, and emotional depth. Set within a Nepalese village, the film follows the matriarch of a Kinnar community navigating love, responsibility, and survival, while bringing visibility to voices and lives too often marginalized in mainstream cinema. The film also marks a historic milestone as the first Nepali feature selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes. (Festival de Cannes)

Congratulations to Abinash Bikram Shah and the entire team behind this unforgettable film. South Asian cinema continues to rise with courage, beauty, and truth. ❤️

For 21 years, Tasveer has created space for South Asian storytellers and stories that deserve to travel beyond borders.

This year, that conversation reaches Cannes. As the host of the only official South Asian panel at the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film, Tasveer brings together voices from cinema, technology, AI, financing, co-productions, and global film markets to explore the future of South Asian storytelling.

Because representation is not just about visibility. It is about access, investment, influence, and opportunity.

South Asian cinema was never niche. The world is simply catching up.
