Whooshh Innovations moves live fish safely and efficiently. Using innovative patented technology,

Whooshh Innovations has developed a technology providing for the rapid but gentle linear movement of agricultural and other asymmetrical objects in the field, the packing house/processor and perhaps even the retail store. The transport technology has multiple applications beyond the scope of the fresh fruit industries, such as live fish transport.

Some of the most important scientific breakthroughs start with questions that sound… a little strange. 🐟🚀

Take the “salmon cannon.” What looked like a quirky idea — safely moving salmon upstream through a tube — became a real solution for protecting ecosystems, restoring fish populations, and balancing environmental conservation with human infrastructure. It’s a perfect example of how curiosity-driven science turns unconventional ideas into real-world impact.

Whooshh is delighted to be featured in a new book called “The Salmon Cannon and the Levitating Frog.” https://www.amazon.com/Salmon-Cannon-Levitating-Frog-Discoveries/dp/1541605217

In an interview on PBS: Author Carly York talked about the importance of funding science and how it leads to incredible breakthroughs. https://www.pbs.org/video/in-defense-of-silly-science-how-curiosity-driven-research-drives-discovery-ktac0m/

From salmon cannons to lifesaving medicines, we’re investing in future cures, stronger infrastructure, global leadership, and the next generation of innovators.

Curiosity today = breakthroughs tomorrow.

The Pacific Marine Expo is still going strong until tomorrow! Don't forget to stop by booth 742 to visit us.

We also had a great time with the Dutch Delegation at the Whooshh Innovations Office this week.

Both the Netherlands and the Northwestern U.S. share a strong fisheries sector and face similar challenges, including labor shortages and increasing sustainability demands driven by market expectations and regulatory frameworks. In both regions, the fisheries value chain is a vital pillar of the economy.
We are both actively committed to developing the sector in a future-proof and sustainable way. This includes efforts to conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas, and marine resources and striving to maintain a healthy balance between nature and economic development.

A delegation of researchers, company representative and government officials from the Netherlands traveled to Washington to learn about innovations in areas such as (but not limited to):

--sustainable fishing techniques and advanced monitoring tools (e.g., sensors, eDNA technology), as well as technologies to reduce bycatch;

--smart fish stock monitoring and localization using advanced sensor technologies and data analytics;

--robotics and automation in fisheries;

--new fish products and value chains that respond to changing consumer preferences and emerging market opportunities, including food innovations such as the use of seaweed, fish protein, and valorization of waste streams;

--resource-efficient operations across water, energy, and labor use.

We are also interested to learn how the public and private sectors in Washington are supporting start-ups and scale-ups that are working on innovations in these areas.

There's a Whooshh Innovations Salmon Cannon™ running through a Portland, Oregon art gallery. Our technology is on loan for an exhibition by Sasha Fishman, called Shad Mode.

The Salmon Cannon™ tubing is weaved all through ILY2 Gallery walls - the results are wild, thought provoking and even fun. The exhibit runs through December 20th if you'd like to check it out.
