We understand that the employee benefits marketplace is rapidly changing. The line between products and services obtained through the employer versus privately has begun to blur. Sophisticated employers are widening their offerings. An employer can offer the best benefits in the industry, but unless employees understand those benefits and their value they are most likely underappreciated and overlooked.

Can I easily share my contents with others before I die? Yes and we encourage you to do so because much of the reason death is so poorly handled by our society is because individual wishes are not known at the time of death. If you choose not to communicate your wishes before death, please direct someone to your Final Roadmap document set to be accessed upon your death. Final Roadmap allows you to send various contents to others of your choice at any time, including after your death through an individual whom you designate. In addition, you can allow others secure access to see, but not alter, some or all of your documents and you will know any time they have been viewed. You are in complete control. These are your documents and you dictate their use as well as their contents.

Greg is a successful international photographer and outdoorsman. At 52, he is single, active and well-traveled. He’s started thinking more and more about his future after a recent hiking accident when he spent a long, cold night in the Colorado mountains after sustaining a broken ankle. Greg’s parents are deceased and he has one sister, Jean, who lives out of state and he rarely sees. They’ve never been particularly close. Since Jean is Greg’s only living relative, he’s concerned that she would have no idea what he would want if he were unable to communicate his wishes due to sudden illness or injury; this situation was not something she or Greg had ever discussed. In addition, Jean and her husband are not in any position to take on any financial responsibility for Greg if the need should arise. Essentially, Greg is alone. He loves his life, but the truth is he will, by choice, always be a loner—in life and at the end of life. The last thing Greg wants in his future is for the court to appoint a legal guardian, a total stranger, to assist the medical providers in making medical decisions on his behalf. He has always called the shots, and simply wants more control over his future. He finds that control and peace of mind in Final Roadmap.

Can Final Roadmap employees access my documents?
NO.
Final Roadmap has multiple levels of security which prevent anyone you do not expressly allow, including us, from seeing your Final Roadmap. Therefore, it is very important that you either print your documents or allow specified others to have electronic access. It is easy to do this and can be done both per document and per designee. In other words, you decide precisely who can see what. In addition, you receive an email alert every time one of your designees goes into your Final Roadmap.
We can answer all your questions and get you on the right path at FinalRoadmap.com.

Randy is a 45-year-old divorced father of boys ages 12 and 14, who practices law in the Midwest, works out regularly and is in good health. He’s always impeccably dressed, prepared for court, and ready to take on every challenge that life presents.
Randy’s parents are both in their 70’s, generally in good health, and he has a brother and a sister nearby, each with families of their own.
While playing in a neighborhood basketball pickup game one evening, Randy’s neighbor Tom, a widower, collapsed while playing basketball. Upon arrival at the hospital, Tom was diagnosed with a massive hemorrhagic stroke and was immediately taken to surgery to relieve bleeding in his brain. His loved ones were told of the possibility that he would not regain basic functions like walking or talking. The days wore on and it was determined that Tom’s condition would not improve. Tom had never documented his wishes or had serious conversations with any of his loved ones about his intentions for such a situation. His boys were certainly too young to process that discussion. Family members, including his parents and his ex-wife’s parents, not only struggled but argued about what “Tom would want” and “what was best” and how to explain their decision to remove Tom from life support to his sons. The argument was so intense that at one point hospital security had to break up a near fistfight in the ICU family waiting room.
Watching Tom’s situation caused Randy to reflect on what would happen if he was never again able to communicate. He would not want to burden his sons, parents or siblings to make those heart-wrenching decisions about his future and whether he should be detached from medical technology and be allowed to die, or live in a nursing home with the hope that medical science or a miracle would change his situation. With Final Roadmap, Randy has documented his wishes and gained control. He faces every day with the confidence he has carried throughout his adult life.
