Last Sunday, we had the privilege of hosting a College Possible Washington and College Access Now (CAN) board reunion.

From founding board members to those who currently serve, every era of our organization was represented. This gave us such a special opportunity to reflect on the challenges, wins, and everything in-between that College Possible has experienced over the past two decades.

More importantly, we were able to connect and celebrate with those who have dedicated years to this work and remain committed to seeing our mission succeed.

A huge thank you to all of our current and former board members. We appreciate all that you have done and continue to do!

College Possible Washington and foundry10 partnered to award scholarships to 27 students across King County.

One of this year’s scholarship recipients is Lana, a senior at Lindbergh High School who is headed to University of Washington this fall to study aerospace engineering.

Lana shared that she plans to use her award for moving expenses and a deposit for her first apartment.

"The cost for housing and living in Seattle is expensive. I am thankful that I’ll be able to cover some of these costs with the scholarship money."

This spring, foundry10 partnered with College Possible Washington to distribute scholarship awards to 27 students across Seattle, Renton, and Federal Way.

What makes these scholarships unique?

Awards are distributed directly to students and are eligible to be spent on items beyond tuition, such as gas money to make a longer commute, a new laptop to work on assignments, bedding for their dorm room, or clothes for a new climate.

Anna, who has been with foundry10 for over a decade, shares the importance of students having agency over the funds, stating that:

"In an ideal world, it’s gap funding that allows for a student to have what they need and to feel like they have what they need... being able to show up to class with a laptop that works really can make or break an experience.”

This week, we wrapped up our annual school visit series at Franklin High School!

After a tour of the school, we had the chance to hear directly from students about how College Possible Washington has supported them on their journey to college, followed by a thoughtful reflection on our first year without AmeriCorps.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended a school visit this year and the students who shared their experience!
