Latest kiln load! All midrange porcelain, fired to cone 5.5.

My favorite piece is probably my very bad attempt at a swirl vase, that I then carved. The glazing though made it magical! The depth of colors are hard to capture in the photos.

And on the flower vases, the stained clay and satin clear coat is a definite win! Also on the multi colored flower vase I got crystals! Tiny crystals, but I grew crystals!

*edited to add, I used a glaze that’s supposed produce crystal when slow cool, and I yet to achieve the crystal growth until this glaze load using a slow cool firing schedule.

While figuring out glazes for my flower vases, I finished up these nerikomi platters, some mugs, a vase and a planter. None of the platters have been glazed. I polished them to a nice soft satin finish.

This is a long overdue update considering my last post was in 2019.

In February of 2020, I had extensive reconstructive surgery on my right shoulder. Which essentially halted my clay work. During my recovery, I got my creative energy out by painting on my iPad (Pro with the Apple Pencil), surprising myself in the process at how much I enjoy it. I’m going to add some of my digital paintings in order, starting with my first to my last, along with some of my line drawings.

My recovery was long and slow, but in the last several months I’ve been able to get back on the wheel. As I build up strength and stamina,I’ve decided to stop selling for the time being. I’m no longer doing custom orders, just making stuff for our house or as gifts.

In addition to some of my digital art, I’m posting photos of my pieces that have been completed or made since my last update, also in consecutive order.
