The Unburning, Chapter 1⁣

I’m telling a supernatural mystery through miniature letters, photographs, and evidence you can make and hold. Here’s the beginning, along with the projects I made as a gift for subscribers to my newsletter, The Werewolf Post.⁣
⁣
A mysterious envelope from 1946 arrives on your doorstep. Inside is a letter from private investigator B.B. Wolf and a folder of preliminary evidence. She’s sending you copies of her case files for safekeeping.⁣
⁣
Her new clients are residents of the Liberty Hotel in Seattle’s Pioneer Square. The hotel began as a respectable rooming house established by Japanese immigrants in 1928. Following the forced incarceration of Japanese families in 1942 and a change in ownership, more illicit activities have found their way onto the premises.⁣
⁣
Recent repairs opened a wall in the basement into the Seattle Underground, revealing something impossible. Since then, the residents have been experiencing things they can’t explain. They’ve visited B.B. at her office a few blocks away in the Mutual Life Building and asked her to investigate.⁣

How does the time move so fast in the summer? My last post about this project was a month ago but I could’ve sworn it was about 9 days. This brain of mine does not function like a clock! ⁣

I’m excited because this is finally starting to look like a structure instead of a pile of furniture & books being herded by an anglerfish. It won’t be long before I’m wrapping this up and getting it ready to take to the Portland Miniature Show! ⁣

My next step is to decide the color for the floors and walls.⁣
⁣

A quick tutorial on how I made the 1/12 scale miniature cat eye wire-rimmed librarian glasses for my diorama, plus a glimpse of Pearl 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 wearing her own version of librarian glasses! ⁣

I’m so happy I decided to re-make Miss Pearl, the anglerfish librarian of the night! I’m hoping she will be a character that really brings soul to this whole project.⁣
⁣
I started with a loose ball of aluminum foil as an armature, covered that with creative paper clay, added some armature wire to support the fins, wooden toothpicks for teeth, then drilled a hole to add a flickering LED pico light from (best lights & customer service ever!) inside a shrink tube with an added thin wire. ⁣

Next is deciding what color to paint her…⁣

Haute dog! Two contrasting styles of miniature luxury dog accessories and matching bags for their wee humans. What do you think? Does this make fetch happen? Pawsh enough? I made these for my pal, the lovely miniaturist and designer extraordinaire and her adorable chiens Chloe & Domino 🐾⁣
