Goodbye to summer. Sweet little moments captured by my honey .

I’ve been a curator and a maker my whole life—of music, art, fashion, and feelings too big to hold alone. From designing jewelry to writing bestselling books like and , every chapter of my work has been about gathering beauty and meaning to share with others (and to spark my own joy too).

Each week now, I pull a tarot card (from the deck and I were so lucky to publish with ), reflect on its message, and create a mixtape inspired by it — a soundtrack for reflection, expression, and self-care. This first mix inspired by the Temperance card Reversed, “Rebalancing Ritual” kicks off the series. I’ll be sharing them here weekly… though I’m already a few weeks behind, so expect a little catch-up drop soon!

For the full experience — tarot, style curation, art, writing, and more music—come join me on Substack and subscribe to my bi-weekly newsletter These Things Now. It’s where all my creative threads weave together. Link in bio!

The magic on this mixtape:
1. “Los Ageless”
2. “Radio”
3. “Pedestrian at Best”
4. “Roma Fade”
5. “La Vita Nuova” +
6. “Deadly Valentine”
7. “Gangsta”
8. “Slip Away”
9. “Hot Thoughts”
10. “Work It”
11. “Rill Rill”
12. “I Like It I Like It”
13. “Sad Makeup”
14. “Take Me to Bejing”

Pearls, pearls, all kinds of pearls… I’m back with some girly curation of pearlies for you!

Every week I deliver a new stack of gems to shop — pulled from indie designers, hidden-boutique treasures you haven’t discovered yet, and even a few big-name brands (because sometimes the mainstream picks up on the magic delivered by the underground and offers it at affordable prices for the masses). It all lands safely in your inbox via Substack, ready for you to clickity-clack your way through the beauty delivery.

If grandma’s pearl strand is too dusty for your taste, this drop is for you. Meet fresh, playful takes on pearls — sculptural jewelry, whimsical details, and even pearl-inspired nail art.

As always: if you spot a copycat, call it out! I work hard to make sure I curated unique pieces straight from the creator. But sometimes I miss it or cannot for the life of me find a source like these stupidly cute pearl-duck-bird-butt-objects that maybe are earrings of magnets or I don’t know, help me find the maker!

Shop the makers below by clicking through and grabbing the pieces that speak to you!

I do well with little mantras. A corny catchphrase does something good for my inner monologue. If my brain is going to repeat and repeat and repeat, I’d rather it circle around something hopeful. ✨

This one—“Want better, do better”—is one I made for myself. But maybe it’s one you’d like to see in your daily space too? Thinking about making it something you can put wherever you might need the reminder: for me, for you, for all.

Last week, I shared about losing my job at my local art museum on my substack (link in bio.) This week, I’m sharing the actual Instagram posts that supposedly violated the museum’s “code of conduct.” Turns out, the real issue was that I dared to call out elitism—like the auctioning of 18 farm-fresh eggs for $2,100 (yes, really) while donated artworks from financially unstable artists went unsold, and staff who can barely afford groceries watched.

Ah, yes… the same men behind that stunt were also some of the ones who forced the cancellation of the One Family in Gaza play. Interesting, indeed.

But here’s the thing: losing that job gave me space to breathe.
1. To write.
2. To build a gate with friends
3. To try on a dress and say, I feel uncomfortable and I’m ready to get back into movement! And I have :)
4. To savor the fig jam made from figs she gathered
5. To swim in the ocean at sunset with my friends
6. To craft under the stars with my community in our garden
7. To eat more figs in a savory sweet pizza
8. To smell flowers and appreciate nature
9. To hype my friend and his blossoming landscaping business in Kitsap county! Hire him for landscape design and maintenance werk :) Bosky.us
10. To hike with Margo pup and wear her out,

…and savor all the sweetness amidst the bs.

The Six of Swords tarot card has been my reminder—step lightly, trust the rocks beneath me, and don’t get pulled into the icky sticky lava that bubbles around me.

If you want to read about both the B.S. and the sweetness, the full update is waiting for you on Substack. Link in bio 💌

And a note on the importance of calling out copycats: In the world of retail, especially jewelry design, there are SO many copy cats. So if I didn’t catch copy cats in my own research of the brands I feature, please DO call out copy cats when you spot them so I can update credits accordingly.

Tomorrow (Sunday) at 9am, my newest Substack post goes live. It’s about what went down at my now-former workplace, why I spoke up, and the tarot card that’s getting me through it.

I want to thank for continuing to hold BIMA leadership accountable for canceling the One Family in Gaza play—and to my former co-workers and friends at BIMA, I love you. My firing was decided far above your pay grade. This is the mess of hierarchies in a capitalist system, especially in a “fire at will” state like Washington.

I don’t regret speaking up—being able to do so at all is a privilege. So here I am, still moving forward, writing, creating, and doing the best I can within the limits we’re all given.

Visit the link in my bio and subscribe so you get tomorrow’s post in your inbox. Let’s keep choosing truth, art, and compassion—together. ❤️

Happy 1st Birthday to my youngest book baby—and my one and only tarot deck!

One year ago this week, Every Little Thing You Do Is Magic made its way into the world, published by the wonderful after four years of dreaming, refining, and slowly bringing it all to life. and I searched for two years to find the right publishing home, and another two to craft something that truly felt like us. 💫

What I love most about this deck is our reimagining of the court cards. We said goodbye to hierarchy—King, Queen, Knight, Page—and instead welcomed a more tender, human journey of self.

• The Apprentice (formerly Page), full of wonder and childlike awe, just beginning to explore the world.

• The Champion (Knight), riding high on momentum and action, discovering their voice and vision.

• The Oracle (Queen), turning inward with artistry and depth, seeking truths that words can’t always hold.

• The Elder (King), drawing from a well of wisdom to observe the patterns within and without.

To us, the court cards aren’t titles to earn—they’re archetypes we all move through, again and again, in our evolution. Finding these new titles for cards we treasure was one of the most magical moments of creating this deck with Callie. Here’s to many more years of journeying with this deck and with all of you who’ve welcomed it into your lives. 🖤

No Instagram for the month of July did me well.

I escaped this island to another one with new friends and treasured ones.

I felt free like the freak I am.

All the way from Saipan, Marco came to visit, finished his dissertation and is now helping my love finish hers.

I camped alone and it filled me up.

Cardin and Brandon and baby came to visit, and we lounged and laughed and filled up on friendship and chosen family.

I felt the sun. I walked in the dry grass and was alive.

I saw with Jess and Tom and I slapped my leg laughing so hard.

I bought a cd player at a vintage mall and started listening to my high school + college mixtapes from friends, lovers, should have been lovers, and my own inner lover.

Sky kept me accountable to stay off the gram and connected me with other freaks I dig.

We saw a play at the park. And by we I mean, my PEOPLE: Vic Taylor Souk Taylor and Scott.

We had crawfish 🦞, well, I ate 2 and yes they were tasty and no I could not eat more because I’m a wimpy creature lover.

Taylor + Vic + I built a fence! Almost, we’re close :) Ok, and mostly Taylor . This talented sweetie.

I painted just for kicks.

I published 5 substacks and I’m sticking to it! Please find me on substack, sign up for a paid subscription, and help me quit the job that sucked my soul this summer.

I did lots of tarot, for me, for you, for friends.

I collaged funny things for funny reasons.

I drew the land for new friends who shared it with us.

I didn’t miss Instagram, I just craved the addiction of scrolling, found myself pinning things I like on Pinterest, and remembered what life was like before this massively addictive social media platform.

I thought about how I should return to “here.” Just business? Turn off comments? I still don’t know. But I do feel well. And that is what I’m seeking to maintain amidst the share and overshare culture I’ve participated in for so many years.

I like real life.

Instagram is fun when I’m documenting like I did in journals as a kid. So here’s that. For July.

✨SWIPE TO PULL A CARD✨
Today’s tarot pull: The Two of Swords (upright) from

🪨 A Gem: Tiger’s Eye – for clairvoyance, mood balancing, meditation
🎧 A Song: “Motion Sickness” by
👃 A Scent: Stale air in a musty room (you know the one)

It’s decision time, and you might be feeling avoidant. Where in your life do you feel pulled in two opposing directions? Close your eyes—with intention—and listen to your inner knowing. But don’t disappear completely. Avoidance might feel safe, but indecision will keep you locked in anxiety. Eradicate fear, make your choice, and move forward knowing perfection isn’t the point—progress is.

🔮 Try this Tarot Spread for tough decisions:
Pull 2 cards—one for Choice A, one for Choice B.
Then journal through your thoughts.

Here’s what I pulled for a real-life dilemma I’m facing (hi, it’s me, , creator of this deck & the 52 Lists series):

💸 How do I survive this overwhelming pile of bills and not lose my soul in the process?

Choice A: Dedicate more time to my art and selling it.
🃏 Tarot card: Seven of Swords – strategic energy, but am I running from or toward something?

Choice B: Apply for more jobs—full-time maybe?, benefits, stability.
🃏 Tarot card: Ace of Cups – new emotional fulfillment, a fresh start… hmm.

Journal Prompt:
List #25 from
List the things from your childhood that felt hard at the time but are now easy.
Swipe to read my own list (yes, I got vulnerable).

📝 Take Action:
I WILL commit to a morning and night routine for a week. I’ve been avoidant of structure lately, but fear doesn’t get to be the boss of me anymore. These cards, these lists—they’re my tools. And I’m ready to push through.

Deck: by me +
Journals: the series, by me too

Finally introducing ourselves to the neighbors on the other side of our property.

We share a driveway with a few other houses and we became fast friends with all these folks as soon as we moved into our house a year and a half ago. But oops, we let the overwhelm of new homeownership and an acre and a half of land to upkeep distract us from reaching out to the row of neighbors on the far side of our property.

Well, my birthday is swiftly approaching and I want to invite them all to come hang with folks and friends of all ages. So here’s the invite and belated introduction that I made to say, “hey neighbors!”

And in the words of Mr Rogers:

It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood
A beautiful day for a neighbor
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
It’s a neighborly day in this beautywood
A neighborly day for a beauty
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you
I’ve always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you
So, let’s make the most of this beautiful day
Since we’re together, we might as well say
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Won’t you be my neighbor?
Won’t you please, won’t you please?
Please, won’t you be my neighbor?
Neighbors are people who are close to us
And friends are people who are close to our hearts
I like to think of you as my neighbor and my friend
