You have a meticulously built system for your tasks, but you still can't get started. You know what to do, yet your brain feels like it is stuck in neutral.

We often treat this as a failure of planning. We add more categories, finer-grained tasks, or stricter reminders.

But when the problem is initiation resistance, adding more top-down structure is like trying to fix a flat tire by upgrading the dashboard. ADHD management isn't just about the strategy—it's about the energy state.

Quick share: Linda Roggli's
**Get Organized** is hosting an informational session this Thursday.

**Thu, June 4 • 12:00 PM ET / 9:00 AM PT**

Register: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/2QNEgpT6RjC3qSmh18GA9A

This program is **primarily for your lived space organizing**—decluttering, setting up simple systems, and getting momentum with support. The basic structure is 8-weeks of **live, coached organizing sessions + practical guidance + accountability**.

I facilitate/coach in the program, and it’s genuinely **one of the highlights of my week**—warmth, camaraderie, and so many “oh, you too?” moments. I get as much from the group as participants do.

Your brain is not an unlimited storage unit. If you're constantly relying on your own working memory to 'remember to remember' every task, meeting, or deadline, you aren't failing—you're just dealing with a n overloaded executive function system. Kind of like a sieve or swiss cheese. sometimes things make it through the holes and sometimes they don't!

Most people try to fix this by stacking more reminders on top of each other, but that just turns your internal world or visual filed into a noisy, overwhelming slot machine of pings.

The real relief comes when you stop trying to keep everything in your head and start moving from 'remembering' to 'seeing.'

I don't use Notion to curate some aesthetic, all-white desk vibe. I use it as an external brain to carry the load, so my own mind has the space to actually think, create, and breathe.

How are you externalizing your mental load this week?

Some brains don’t play well with rigid systems.
And that doesn’t mean the brain is the problem.

If you’re wired for context-switching and curiosity, then a one-size-fits-all method is just another mismatch waiting to happen.

What if your system celebrated your flow days *and* forgave the dips?
That’s not a workaround — it’s good design.

You don’t need discipline. You need permission to adapt.

Summer in the PNW feels like a kaleidoscope—vibrant, warm, and beautiful, but also incredibly dizzying when your brain craves structure.

I notice that as the seasonal rhythm shifts, the internal calm we’ve worked so hard to cultivate often meets unexpected friction. For those of us with divergent minds, the sudden open loop of unstructured summer days can actually become a high-leverage cognitive challenge.

Without the reliable guardrails of the regular routine, the mental load of simply deciding how to navigate a sunny Saturday can leave us feeling stuck at the starting line.

I’m inviting you into a different kind of preparation this season. My summer planning sessions are designed as collaborative care—a functional bridge between your big ideas and the mechanics of action. Let’s explore a strategic sequence that honors your energy state rather than fighting against it. If you want to design a summer rhythm that actually feels supportive,

I have a few 1:1 spots available to build your better map.

That 'ADHD tax' you feel? It's not just a budget issue--leaving the mystery meat in the fridge...

; it's the silent drag of struggling to start, a real cognitive burden that can dim the brightest star of your creative expression. For many of us in the vibrant Pacific Northwest, this might feel like a mist over the page, hindering the natural flow of brilliant ideas.

What if we shifted our perspective? Instead of seeing it as a character flaw, let's explore it as an invitation to ignite interest-based motivation and embrace a different definition of progress.

This builds momentum as genuine care for the brain you have. What's one micro-action you can take today to move past the mist?

How do hormones impact your ADHD? This is an informative article from a colleague here in Shoreline

ADHD symptoms can change with your hormones — and that’s more common than many people realize.

From puberty to postpartum to perimenopause, hormonal shifts can affect focus, emotional regulation, motivation, and executive function. Many people notice their ADHD symptoms worsen before their period, after pregnancy, or during major life transitions.

This isn’t “being inconsistent.”
There’s a real biological connection between hormones and the brain pathways involved in ADHD.

Understanding those patterns can help people feel less confused, less dismissed, and more supported in getting the right care.

When my nervous system is fried and I can’t access cognitive strategies like meditation or journaling, TouchPoints come in clutch.

These wearable devices use alternating bilateral stimulation (ABS), which is shown in studies to reduce stress by over 70% in as little as 30 seconds. The science behind it is related to how the brain processes sensory input — by engaging both hemispheres rhythmically, ABS interrupts the fight/flight response and supports emotional regulation.

This same mechanism is used in trauma therapies like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and emerging research backs its impact on focus, anxiety, and even sleep quality.

I’ve used TouchPoints during:
- Overwhelming work blocks
- Transitions between high-stim environments
- Pre-sleep wind-down
- Crowded public spaces

For ADHD brains that can feel hijacked by external chaos, TouchPoints offer a tangible, fast-track to regulation — without needing to think your way out of distress.

Summer arrives and suddenly we’re handed a new list of 'shoulds.' In the Seattle sun, there is often pressure to be constantly 'on.' But if your nervous system is craving internal calm, a packed schedule only adds to the cognitive burden.

What if we reframed summer self-care as simply showing up for yourself? I’ve seen how we carry expired prompts-phone, calendar, smart devices... like grit in the gears. I invite you to try a prompt clean-out today.

Drop the guilt over tasks that no longer fit your current energy state. You aren't falling behind—you're clearing the canvas.

Ever felt like your brain is constantly playing tug-of-war with itself? You're not alone. What often feels like 'lack of motivation' for many divergent thinkers is actually a nervous system response to mismatched mechanics.

Our brains are incredibly efficient, building automaticity for familiar patterns. When we try to build new habits, it's a high-energy investment because our wiring prefers the path of least resistance. It's not a character flaw; it's neuroscience.

Understanding this helps us move from frustration to authentic design.
