đź‘‹It's been a while. We are dusting off things but wanted to start off quickly with this post about flying drones in disaster zones as we prepare for yet another big hurricane.
We are working on updates and refreshing things, so bear with us. Some updates that we have worked on, include setting up a Discord to rebuild the awesome discussions, brain trust and creativity that was in the Skye Channel of past. Planning for some upcoming virtual CrisisCamps and other fun things. Check out the page CrisisCommons.org on how to join in on the discussion and more.
Looking forward to getting the conversations and community going again. Cheers, Pascal.

From our friends at SahanaEden - some tech resources if you want to help:
Houston, Texas and surrounding areas are being battered by Hurricane Harvey which has caused massive amounts of flooding. Rains will continue for the next few days.
Grassroots groups are building maps of rescue requests, shelter locations and volunteer meetup points have requested that we take their data from a collection of spreadsheets and implement it in a Sahana EDEN system.
You can see some of the data that they want imported here:

The Red Cross is helping at least 4,700 people in dozens of emergency shelters in Louisiana after disastrous flooding forced them from their homes. The situation is extremely chaotic, with life-threatening flood waters combining with power outages and road closures that are complicating relief efforts. Despite these struggles, Red Cross disaster volunteers—many of whom have been impacted themselves—are opening shelters, providing meals and comfort. If you would like to help people affected by the Louisiana Floods, please visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word LAFLOODS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. We also encourage you to visit the American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana page and our website for additional updates: http://www.redcross.org/news/press-release/Red-Cross-Sheltering-Thousands-in-Louisiana-After-Unprecedented-Flooding.
