Sludgy, dreamy, doom. We make heavy music for thr genre fluid. Robins blends their
dreamy vocal melodies with Nihil’s heavy rock sensibilities.

Bonney Rubble is an experimental rock band formed by
Julia Robins and Nick Nihil that fuses the worlds of dream
pop, post-rock and doom metal. The band draws inspiration from artists like Swans, Low,
Julee Cruise and King Woman.

Our album is just about one month old, but it feels like it’s been out for a year. We pushed so hard to get this second album out by October, just eight months after we released our first album. It’s entirely self-inflicted pressure, but Nick and I kind of need to be in a constant state of creating. Even now, we’re starting to write our third album with hopes of an October 2026 release.

I try really hard to focus solely on the process of making art, in part to try to mitigate an unhealthy attachment to the product and the product’s reception. There’s also an inevitable ick (or, more likely, insecurity) that can come with promoting one’s art. But that’s part of the process, right? There’s the creation, but there’s also the sharing. Unfortunately the sharing can at times feel like pleading with others to listen, share and delight in the product. And then comes the inevitable burnout, which I’m currently bumping up against.

Ok, that is the end of my existential listlessness for now.

Thank you for listening, sharing, requesting and all the things 💜

“Numb” might be our most emotionally urgent song in our catalog, utilizing a Black Metal-inspired cacophony to underscore a heartbreakingly beautiful build.

It’s my favorite song off of our new album, which came out at the end of October. Listen to it wherever you listen to music, or buy it on Bandcamp.

Here are the lyrics, which you can hold in your hands if you buy one of our cassettes, as well as some shots by 💜💜💜

The crew are some of the kindest, sweetest people I’ve ever met. They work so hard to support our community, and local music needs more support now than ever. Shoutout to for hosting such an important program 💜

It’s been almost two weeks since our album was born and we’ve been loving hearing your reactions! Keep listening, sharing with friends and enemies, and requesting our tunes to be played on your favorite radio stations! And tell me your favorites!!!

Thanks to for the photos!!
