We hit the South Terminal at Vancouver Airport at 5am for the charter flight and helicopter to the lodge. By five pm we’re back at Queen Charlotte Lodge with our catch and it’s time for a beverage and dinner!

Last time I towed the boat out to Sekiu, it was over five hours including a ferry ride. When you can get a weather window like we had today, spending the time underway rather than in traffic is simply a pleasure!

We had a great two-day angling adventure and now it’s time to run back to for the Tulalip Bay opener tomorrow so we can tell story live Saturday morning from 6-8am or catch the podcast on Theoutdoorline.com

There’s more than one way to target halibut in the Sound and Straits. If anchoring or jigging isn’t your game then roll larger herring around likely structure off the Downrigger. Trolling is a great heavy current option as well. Keep your descending device handy as you’ll likely encounter rockfish as well.
It’s a LOT easier than you think to take your vessel into Canadian waters. Getting the CBP ROAM and the Arrive Can apps make it even easier. Just a quick reminder that it’s time to renew your Canadian fishing license as well!
