Here’s a gas furnace we found venting into the utility room and adjacent living room yesterday. The single wall vent had corroded and detached from the chimney, which used to terminate exhaust gases above the roof line!

Eye and ear protection along with heavy gloves when removing sheet metal screws from an electric panel. Sharp screws easily pe*****te wire coping and cause a short consisting of a loud bang and showers of molten metal in your face. Best to use proper fasteners with blunt ends.

Missing attic insulation on todays inspection! New construction inspections are just as important as 100 year old homes. New construction houses don’t come off robotic assembly lines like cars do- there’s plenty of room for human error.

If had $1 for every unplumbed TPR valve I’ve found! These valves release pressure if a water heater fails and overheats, preventing an explosion. Important to have it discharging in a safe direction.

Keep your crawl space vents open all year in Western Washington! Just make sure to insulate all plumbing.
