The EarthLab Summer Internship Program is back for its fifth year—and this is our largest cohort yet!

We're seeking curious, motivated students eager to tackle real-world challenges at the intersection of climate change and social justice. Over nine weeks, interns will collaborate on applied research and hands-on projects while building skills in interdisciplinary, community-engaged work.

What makes this program stand out:
✅ Internship stipend + $180 commuting stipend (for UPass or travel costs)
✅ Dedicated mentorship from site supervisors and EarthLab staff
✅ Weekly cohort sessions focused on peer learning, career growth, and environmental justice
✅ A supportive community of students from all majors, backgrounds, and UW campuses

“Central and Eastern Washington face some of the most extreme climate impacts in the state, yet effective science communication is not centered around the communities that need it most.”

On April 10th, the UW Center for Urban Horticulture came alive with energy, ideas, and community spirit during EarthLab’s second annual Spring Showcase.

Over 100 friends, partners, and supporters gathered to celebrate progress and collaboration toward climate solutions.

The evening was a powerful reminder: when people from different backgrounds and disciplines come together with shared purpose, we create momentum for meaningful change.
