Helping pet businesses escape the pet industry BS: full schedule, empty bank accountš š»āā?

Blog posts are NOT dead š
BUT the way people consume them⦠has totally changed!
In a world of instant gratification, how can you make your blog posts easy to read? So you donāt lose their attention?
āļøYour content + writing style is most important.
But if youāve written a killer blog post and just wanna make sure people stick around to read the whole thingā¦
ā¦here are some ways you can break up your blog post to make it easy to digest.
1ļøā£ Include images (and lots of āem) to make the text NOT overwhelming.
Use your own images OR search stock photo sites like Unsplash to find images that match the content topic AND your branding
2ļøā£ Using bold, italics, and caps will help readers skim your content for the main points.
Avoid the Underline feature though so as not to confuse that content with a link!
3ļøā£ Most blogs have a Quote feature. Itās underused but is a great feature if you have a quote to share.
Maybe youāve interviewed another pet professional. Pop a great quote of theirs into the Quote feature to really have it stand out.
4ļøā£ Create an infographic in something like Canva to really help drive home a point.
This is a great way to infuse your branding into a blog post!
Now, what do you do to break up your blog posts? Any other tips?

I took a big, big lesson away from 2021 š¤
For the past 4 years in business, I spent a lot⦠A LOT⦠of time recreating the wheel.
I didnāt understand the value of starting with a template and building from there.
I was convinced everything needed to be handcrafted + special. And THATās how I would stay motivated + excited in my business.
But I couldnāt have been more⦠wrong.
With every piece of content starting from ground 0. With every project starting with a blank Asana board⦠I was chipping away at my sanity.
We canāt all be motivated + creative all the time.
So at the end of 2021, after a few months of really being in a place where I didnāt want to create or do anything beyond just helping my clientsā¦
ā¦I revisited past work and created templates.
And itās made all the difference this year.
Email templates, social media post templates, spreadsheets, checklistsā¦
Frankly, itās all still in this messy form of ideation + creation. But the pressure to start from scratch = gone.
And I guess I hadnāt realized how much that was weighing on me.
As I try systems out, I always think of my clients. Can any of these help them?
Pet businesses are a unique breed.
Everything needs to be SO personal yet you can only mentally + physically take on so much.
Have you used templates or other āautomationā tools at all?
Whatās that experience been like?

Your website⦠that email⦠they donāt need to be bland š
Here are some easy ways you can inject some ⨠personality ⨠into any of your copy or content writing:
1ļøā£ Youāre not submitting a paper to your college professor⦠keep things conversational by typing how youād talk.
2ļøā£ People connect to stories. Share your own experiences, share your client experiences.. paint a more vivid picture.
3ļøā£ Again, not following APA style for your college lit paper. You can ditch some grammar rules if it makes your content more approachable.
4ļøā£ Write first for you people. THEN think about SEO.
Remember to save this post so that you can refer to it next time you sit down to write!

Take a quick look š at your website? Are you good?
Iāve been getting A LOT of copywriting project requests (im now booking for March!!)
Something about the new year⦠itās so normal to wonder if your home on the internet is actually working for you.
Here are some top tips (+ common mistakes) Iām seeing.
1ļøā£ Keep things short + sweet: Attention spans are horrible. Get to the point quickly to make sure you donāt lose your audienceās interest
2ļøā£ Talk about your customer: Make sure your reader knows that your website (+ products/services) is for THEM. Sure, they want to know youāre qualified. But they donāt need your life story.
3ļøā£ Use easy-to-understand words: This is a big one. You may be an AMAZING writer but using more complex words is recipe for disaster. Your content wonāt flow as easily or grab attention⦠leading them to click that ā button.
4ļøā£ Use POWER words: These are words that trigger an emotional response in your reader.
Examples: easy, guarantee, save, urgent, exciting, astonishing, transform
Lemme know š how does your website hold up to these copywriting tips?

1ļøā£ This oneās no surprise⦠weāll see more video content in 2022.
As attention spans grow shorter and shorter, our content needs to be efficient at getting the point across.
What better way than with video?!
2ļøā£ More businesses will use templates for their graphic posts, carousels, and Stories to help really reduce the time spent on creating posts.
(I just added some IG templates to the Marketing Vault for my IG Strategy clients - so exciting!)
The focus will be on delivering valuable, inspiring, educational, connecting content. No need to reinvent the wheel with every post!
3ļøā£ The shopping feature has been slow and steady. Weāll see a big bump up this year, and HOPEFULLY add Reels Shopping to the mix š¤
That means pet product companies, get your goodies uploaded to the app! š
What do you think? Are there any other predictions you have for 2022?

Enjoying some time away from my desk this holiday season š

Confuse them? You lose them š¤
(Real life example below)
š When youāre describing your product or service, K.I.S.S!
Keep it simple, stupid.
1ļøā£ Share the basic things they need to know (donāt bog them down with the details)
2ļøā£ Paint a picture of how their life will benefit from your product or service.
šWhen pricing, hey, you also want to keep it simple.
NO ideal customer wants to feel like youāre charging them for every little thing.
Instead, just up your whole price!
Which sounds better?
š„¤ $2 for the soda liquid + $0.30 for the straw + $0.10 for the ice + $0.60for the cup
OR
š„¤ $5 for a large soda with UNLIMITED REFILLS

RUN! šš»āāļø
Whether you have a coach (like me! šš»āāļø) working with youā¦
or you hire a social media manager to get a BIG chunk of it doneā¦
BEWARE of this really common promise.
The goal is NOT to take social media completely off of your plate.
The goal is to create a sustainable social media strategy - one that pulls from your knowledge, your personality, and the actual behind-the-scenes personal stuff that no social media manager (no matter how skilled) can possibly keep on top of.
š©
If you want help creating a strategy that works for YOU but also has that ⨠personal touch ⨠then we gotta talk!

VULNERABLE POST š
The last 2 months have been the hardest in a really, really long time.
But the funny thing isā¦
..the last 2 months werenāt without their fun.
We went on vacation š§³
We went to the most beautiful wedding on the east coast š
We spent a weekend in wine country š·
We played with the dogs daily š š
But things can still be really, really difficult.
So I took time away from social media.
And it reminded me that...
⦠thereās a big BIG difference between:
Not posting on social media because you just donāt feel like it š
VS.
Not posting on social media for your own well being šš»āāļø
Itās funny.
I tell my clients that if their mental health is suffering. If theyāre feeling burnt out. If the overwhelm is sinking inā¦
TAKE THAT BREAKā¼ļø
But when it comes time for me to do the same.
I didnāt fully practice what I preached.
As I stepped away, I still got to work with my amazing clients ⨠(seriously the freaking BEST)
Who donāt need me to post daily on Instagram.
They just need me to show up for THEM fully.
IG isnāt the end all be all of your marketing strategy.
Your biggest fans may find you on IG but they donāt need you there all the time.
š§ So hereās your own little reality check in case it helps you too:
Are you just making excuses for not showing up OR are you truly in need of a break?
