Chuck Wagoner’s memorial and the painting I was working on the day and hour he passed away. My favorite picture of my dad & I on one of my last visits to New Hampshire to see him. Chuck was the sound engineer for the Easy Chair tapes for the Chalcedon Foundation. His contribution to my father’s work was invaluable.

Chuck Wagoner, my father’s long time editor, accountant and all-around right-hand man, (pictured here with his lovely daughter Stacy), passed into the Heavenly realm on Tuesday, December 2. His wife, Peggy and daughter Stacy were at his side.

Chuck created the template for Otto Scott’s Compass and mailed it out each month to all the subscribers. He also took my dad into the 21st century by creating a CD of the Compass newsletters, containing all the issues.

His contribution to my father’s works and legacy is incalculable. Without Chuck’s computer skills and steadfast patience, Otto Scott’s Compass would not have been steered into reality.

Chuck Wagoner was an old school stellar gentleman. He will be greatly missed. His memorial is December 20 in Gig Harbor, Washington.

My father instilled a lifelong love of books in me, as you can see from this bookcase. Here’s us together on one of my last trips out to Somersworth, New Hampshire, to see him. And a portrait of me by artist Bruce Sharp, one of my favorite art teachers.

Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 to All. It’s an occasion to spend time with my family, sharing a meal together and swapping stories.

My father’s draft card from 1942, when he was 24. And my painting, “Enchantress” oil on canvas, 24” x 36” 2023. He always encouraged my art, and told me I was beautiful and talented. Forever grateful.

Various stages of Marie Antoinette painting, inspired in equal measure by Kirsten Dunst in Sofia Coppola’s remarkable film and by my father’s remarkable book on Robespierre, my favorite of his books. Haunting story, riveting narrative of a rogue’s gallery of unforgettable, larger than life characters. I plan on republishing that book. One decision my father made that I disagree with was to omit the speeches of Robespierre from the book. He felt that the power and genius of his words would overbalance the story. I’m putting them back in.
