Just saw a fantastic, free presentation of "The Healing Heart of Lushootseed" doc chronicling Vi Hilbert's spiritual call to commission music in response to 9/11, followed by the score live with UW Symph Orchestra: "The Healing Heart of the First People of This Land" by Bruce Ruddell. I got very Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqaatsi Philip Glass vibes from the whole thing. Very timely.

I associate it with difficult times, but not necessarily something to conquer, more something that spurs growth and change. But yes, my writing has been all about our human power to “overcome” darkness and I need to work to counter any over-reductiveness of that message.
