The worms survived and thriving
I bought some red wriggler worms off eBay for about $30 and split them up into my two 32gallon rubber maid trash bins with drilled holes as a test.

They occupy the bottom of the bin and I see worms if all sizes meaning they are reproducing.

For everyone looking for a boost in compost.

Not really sure what worm this is?
I was collecting earthworms for my compost after a thunderstorm and was wondering if this an earthworm or a jumping worm or any other worm I haven't considered? Just don't want to introduce any invasive species to my garden.

Worms in compost
A sign of what I’m doing is good or I’m more so in the right direction?

I don’t see any worms, but what do you think?
This hen and her sister (both RIR) have p**py butts. Everyone else is fluffy and p**ping normally. I’ll be soaking and trimming their butt feathers tomorrow… but why the runny p**p?

Week 1 inground composting help
I put a 2 gallon bucket in ground with holes drilled out. I filled it with some leaves, cardboard at the bottom and the bedding the 1/4 lbs of worms came with. That took up surprisingly about 80% of the bucket already. I put about 1 cup of frozen then thawed scraps (carrot peels, apple core chopped, coffee grounds) in a week ago and topped with damp leaves and lid. The worms are happily crawling all over the food scraps but they don’t look much to be breaking down. There is also some green mold starting to grow on the food. Do I just keep waiting patiently ? It’s been a week. Did I also fill my bucket too high since it’s already 90% full?

I’ve been told I’m over feeling my worms. 🪱
Ok, so first picture is the bottom layer, about 8 months old, then there’s middle layer, and freshly added food and paper to the top layer, I’m wondering if I should add more food to the empty layer?! I had this bin around 8 months. Plenty of worms, I think they’re happy, but when posted on some groups I’ve been told I’m over feeding. Ideally I’d like to feed them ALL my kitchen scraps (I’m talking only veg, fruits, coffee grounds, etc. I never fed them cook food) and do this as effortlessly as possible, I’m not chopping scraps and freezing them and all that, how big of the bin do I need and how many worms do I need?

Worm transplant from one bin to another. Saving them from the birds 🥰

What kind of worm it is?
Slow movements, it can become longer and pointy

Worms?
This is my first time composting and I noticed these little guys throughout my bin. Im trying to figure out if they’re good or bad and whether I should add more brown stuff.
