Casco Bay Lines of Portland, Maine, recently welcomed Battery Steele, a 164ʹ, double-ended ferry, to its fleet!
Designed by Elliott Bay Design Group LLC and built by Senesco Marine, LLC, the 599-passenger, 15-vehicle ferry was recently launched and christened. After final testing and commissioning, the hybrid-powered Battery Steele will serve the route between Portland and Peaks Island.

BATTERY STEELE is in the water.
EBDG is proud to have designed this 164-foot battery-hybrid passenger/vehicle ferry for .
The vessel was built by with hybrid propulsion and automation systems supplied by .
Designed to carry up to 15 vehicles and 600 passengers, BATTERY STEELE will primarily serve the Portland–Peaks Island route, with the capability to complete full round trips on battery power. Congratulations to the entire project team on this major milestone.
