Almost all of our Christmas cards since 1999, sent out to family and clients as 5x7 postcards. Suitable for framing, tacking on a board or on the refrigerator!

30 years ago today I shot a molotov cocktail on the streets of Portland, OR! We moved to Seattle from Indianapolis and the very next day I was off to PDX to shoot this alongside a film crew for both the broadcast and print versions of the ad. Patricia stayed in our new home directing the moving crew while I got to play with fire. Funniest thing I recall was the DP asking me about my exposure, shot on Fuji Velvia ISO 50 film, and me trying to explain why I was exposing for what we couldn't see yet, the fire, and not the scene itself. My frame would be full of fire so I had to make sure I had all the gorgeous flames in perfect exposure, that's what would make the shot work.

Oh yeah, I got the job because I'd shown my portfolio to the AD on our reconnaissance trip a month earlier and about 20 minutes before we unplugged our land line back home in Indianapolis the phone rang and she hired me. That made it a 5 day deadline to drive a moving truck 2,500 miles and get my ass to PDX in time for the shot. I shot this with a Canon F-1 film camera on an 85mm 1.2L lens. Or maybe it was my 135mm 2.0 lens.
