With Ash Wednesday this week, we mark the beginning of Lent. Just as Jesus prepared for his earthly ministry by being led into the wilderness for forty days of fasting, for centuries, Christians all over the world have entered into these forty days (not including Sundays) as a season of renewal and preparation for Holy Week, the turning point of history.
Foster parents Beau and Bonnie Butaud share their experience with the FAM ministry, how it has impacted their success in the foster care system, and how their relationship with the volunteers has become a family unto itself.
Our youth recently joined Sacred Road on the Yakama Reservation to remodel homes, build relationships with kids and youth, and worship together. Sacred Road is a church planting ministry with a passion for God, our “first neighbors”, and each other. They have an amazing team and we are so thankful to partner with them! THIS SUNDAY April 27 we begin our 5-week Stewardship Series during the 9am Adult School of Discipleship time. Join us!
Living in the Seattle area demands a lot of our time and wealth. The cultural current is to organize our lives around comfort and achievement rather than around God’s kingdom. Therefore we will study Jesus's many teachings on time, talents, and money, asking questions like: What has God entrusted to me? How can I be a wise and faithful steward? What does it mean to be rich toward God?
TCS's own Sasha Decker will share biblical wisdom that she applies daily in her work as a financial planner. We’ll also hear testimonies from leaders in our congregation about how they are seeking to faithfully steward the resources God has entrusted to them.

Come enjoy lunch THIS SUNDAY 4/27 and learn about:
- our exciting Upward Bound VBS theme
- our vision for VBS
- why VBS has long been important to our core values and mission as a church
VBS at TCS is an all-church extravaganza, and our largest annual outreach to Seattle's kids. Whether or not you can be there the week of VBS, join us to learn how your involvement--large or small, before or during--can impact the heart of a child for eternity.

Reminder that this week is a 5th Sunday. That means there will be no School of Discipleship for all ages, and no children's church. We get to enjoy worshiping together with the exuberance of all the children! We also encourage you to thank your child's awesome teachers on their "day off".
The Family Advocacy Ministry (FAM) at TCS works in partnership with Olive Crest to support local families in need of extra support—including families engaged in foster care and adoption, both inside and outside of our congregation.
We invite you to join a "Care Community" dedicated to serving a family. Join us for our next FAM volunteer orientation THIS SUNDAY MARCH 23 at 9am. Let us know you plan to attend here:

Men! We invite you to retreat with your TCS brothers APRIL 4–5 at Lake Retreat Center in Ravensdale, WA. The Rev. Doc. Rob Rayburn, pastor emeritus of Faith Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, will speak on the theme of The Power of the Word: The Modern Christian Man and the Age Old Bible. Together we'll consider:
how our own words can and should be used as an instrument of love towards others, and
how the Word of God has a powerful, relevant, and comprehensive message for us to apply in our lives—from Genesis to Revelation.
