We founded Mutuus Studio for others like us - those who share a mutual obsession for highly crafted design, and also for the misfits that don’t feel like placing limits on what we design.

Our Vista 63 project has no 90 degree angles. Designed in the shape of a kite, the building looks like it is about to take flight. Oriented to point directly at Mt.Rainier, the angled rooflines and expansive windows invite in the views. Thank you and and our creative team.

At Mutuus we are proud to be a women owned studio lead by a dedicated and talented team of women. On this International Women’s Day we would like to highlight on our Senior Principal Renee Boone who is a rockstar Architect and leader in our studio. Her role this past few years has been transformative and we are so grateful for strong female leadership in our studio.

This fabulous wet bar (with a handsome California quail on top) has a dark cerused finish that we love!! When we select a piece of furniture for our clients we love the narrative behind the piece. Fun fact - The contrast of the dark finish with the highlighted wood grain actually originated in 16th-century from a fashion cosmetic trend when women would use a lead based paste to apply to their skin. When discovered that this paste was too toxic it evolved into a wood finishing technique. By rubbing the white pigment into the open grain it not only would seal and protect from insects and preserve the wood and also create a contrasting, weathered look we love. This was popularizing during the Renaissance and later resurging in the Art Deco era. We now used non toxic pigments and waxes to achieve this look but it is always fun to “highlight” the history. The angel is in the details…The mahogany with maple inlay with brass and goatskin credenza by Eugenio Escudero is the perfect piece to be a quiet guest in the dining room.
