A CANCER WISH

Dear Friends,

This is Happy Rhodes. I had the honor of being the singer for The Security Project in recent years.

A woman named Vickie Mapes Williams was very instrumental in helping to promote my career as a singer/songwriter throughout the 80’s and 90’s. Now she’s been dealt a terrible blow; an incurable cancer will eventually take her life. We can’t control that but “eventually” is an important word here. What little time Vickie has left, is her own. What Vickie doesn’t have, are the means to fulfill her remaining dream. In my opinion, it’s a modest one; to visit Alaska and Hawaii. These are the only two states that she has never seen.

You all don’t likely know Vickie personally but she’s raised the public’s awareness of so many brilliant women artists such as Kate Bush, Jane Siberry and Elizabeth Fraser. Vickie’s friends and beneficiaries want to do any small thing we can to make her final days better. So I’m reaching out to all of you music lovers. Can you help us raise the money needed to send Vickie and her caregiver husband Chris, on this final trip together? I want to believe that we can make this happen. It only takes a little bit from all of us.

Happy Bandcamp Friday. When Trey was in New York for the Three of a Perfect Pair camp, A.J. had him and Jerry sign some more Slowburn CDs. Then we shipped the CDs to Michael who sent them to David who sent them to Happy to sign. After traveling around the country for several weeks the signed CDs are back and ready to be sent to you.

To celebrate the return of Security Project, the band created a special compact disc that was sold only at their shows in 2022 featuring an unreleased version of "On the Air" with vocals by drummer Jerry Marotta.

The bulk of the material was compiled from their digital only releases Slowburn and the single "Here Comes the Flood" that had never been available on compact disc.

This CD will be available only through the 7D Media Bandcamp page and at the band's shows. We have a handful of limited edition, signed CDs that were left over from the merch booth.
