Hey gang! This is , Loosely Based’s bossman 👋 With our recent co-productions, people have asked me what Loosely Based is. It’s a fair question, as the brand isn’t as active lately. Thus, a re-introduction seemed fitting:

In late 2018, I learned how to mix and got the itch to DJ in a club setting. Without any clout, I didn’t think anyone would book me, so I thought: what if I rent a small venue, invite some friends, ask some DJ friends to join in case I suck, and give myself my first club gig? So, that’s what I did. Our first party, aptly titled ‘Rough Draft,’ was at the Underground (RIP) and sold out! Seeing the joy it gave everyone made me want to continue with more. I quickly discovered the logistical limitations of promoting without an established brand, and Loosely Based was born. The name stems from the brand’s casual and flexible foundation.

LB has thrown 22+ events: 360° basement parties, rooftop T-dances, beach pop-ups, COVID fundraiser streams, multi-room/genre ragers, and more. It’s been a great way to unleash my ideas, provide something for the community, and give opportunities to others. It has a q***r slant, but is for all dance music lovers; everyone from shirtless daddies to shuffle girls attend the events. It’s focused on bringing good people together over dope music. Fittingly, I call it my ‘occasional party brand’ 😜

During the past few years, I haven’t had the capacity to program as much. This bums me out, but life be lifin’. That said, I’m glad that opportunities still pop up. As such, it’s rad that and invited to work on a Reverie Society installment with them 🙏 The lineup truly embodies the LB spirit ❤️ Given how fun the first event was, I’m pretty dang hyped. It’ll be a rad afternoon! See you there?

➡️ Swipe for some memories 🥰

-Alfonso
