Custom white oak pedestal table for a breakfast nook. Hardly a straight edge on this thing made for a fun build.
Delivers to homeowner after another week or so of curing in the shop. Some shots of the build process.

New vacuum press in the shop! Having fun making these curved end panel corners for some custom kitchen islands.
Vacuum presses are super helpful for laminating big and/or curved veneer layups. They apply even and steady pressure with just a simple vacuum pump and vinyl bag.
These 6 corners glued up perfectly, excited to see these fully assembled. Tonight, I dream of avoiding sand throughs…😬

Built-in bookcase and entertainment center in solid bamboo plywood with hard wax oil finish.
I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful neighbors who commissioned this project with sustainable materials and non-toxic finishes in mind.
Working with bamboo can be challenging: it’s hard, heavy, and as a grass it behaves differently than lumber or traditional plywood. But the colors and patterns are beautiful, this was a really fun project 👍

Custom cabinetry for a Ravenna remodel:
Packed a lot of casework into a smaller home with a fun mix of bold green, glass details and classic walnut.

Custom breakfast banquette in white oak, painted black.
The seat and angled back are cantilevered on these very sexy solid oak legs, a reference to the homeowners’ equally sexy exterior corbels. Don’t worry the quality control officer kept a close eye on the install.

Here at Springboard we’re ready for when, not if, the machines become self aware.
Had a fun week in the shop going old school: dusted off the layout tools to template a batch of wine racks and make a full scale leg mockup for a breakfast nook banquette.
Bonus was making a quick and surprisingly functional dust shroud for the router table.
The first two rules of the shop:
1. The computers are coming for us all
2. Do NOT throw away that cardboard

We support the arts here at Springboard. Happy to loan The Van to a very talented crew from the Ballard High School film program.
Bad weather and missing actors didn’t stop this team from shooting. I also had my acting debut when Sketchy Guys #1 and #2 couldn’t make it.
Frumpy work clothes: ✔️
Mustache: ✔️
Cranky demeanor: ✔️
I call that Saturday, baby. Stay tuned for my red carpet debut…

Ballard baltic birch built-in bookcases.
The only thing better than expert-level alliteration is a happy customer putting them to work.

Dining booths in process for a Ballard cafe…with help from robots.
While I have a healthy fear of our robot overlords, sometimes you gotta know when to throw in the towel and ask a machine for help.
I drew up these plywood parts and had them cut on another shop’s CNC router. Makes for a much more efficient and accurate build, especially with multiple booths and a ton of loose parts.
Some pics of the build process and detail of the lumber-reinforced corners. The general public is a menace (yes, you) so these corners and edges need to be able to take a beating.
Now if I could get a robot to store these things somewhere…
