The Greenstein Lab was launched in 2015 as a multipurpose space for exhibiting and promoting contemporary art. Previously an industrial laser laboratory, the building was renovated by renowned Seattle architect Tom Kundig. His vision was to integrate industrial elements from the building’s history with flexible exhibition spaces that accommodate both large and small scale artworks and installation
s. Exhibitions at The Lab feature post war modern and contemporary works of painting, photography, and sculpture from an international roster of artists. Works at The Lab include Asian, European and American paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture and installations ranging from Post War to the Present. Additionally, The Lab incorporates major works of design by leading international contemporary designers. The artists exhibited at The Lab are original, forward-thinking, influential and, hopefully, enduring. The Lab also spotlights artists whose work has been overlooked or is not yet well-known. The Founders, Judy and Jeff Greenstein, believe art affords enjoyment and contemplation while stimulating creativity and providing a forum for expressions that build tolerance. Accordingly, they are passionate about helping others access, acquire and appreciate art. This includes supporting local and international museums and their exhibitions through direct financial support and the lending of works, as well as opening the Lab to visitors.
