Seattle Metaphysical Library

The past couple weeks have been a nightmare for us.

The air conditioner in the middle room started leaking one time when we left it on over night. A volunteer only noticed that the whole area underneath was soaked days after the damage was done.

The worst part was that a previous group of volunteers had already started taking books out of bags and placing them on shelves before plans had been solidified.

As a result, so many books were water damaged--and as we rushed to get the books off the shelves, we mixed them up and completely disorganized them (so if you like organizing, reached out to us. We have a lot of books that need to be alphabetized).

We had to pause our work as building management took care of the issue. Of course, we did other stuff as we waited, but today was the first day were we actually felt comfortable enough to resume working on shelving.

We're getting there. Slowly but surely.

It's starting to look a lot like progress

Luci, our main librarian, is putting out a call for artifacts and stories of Seattle and PNW paranormal and occult first-hand experiences, as well as any local tales of folklore and mythology.

The following is a list of things the library currently needs. If you'd like to help out, but can't volunteer, consider donating some of the following items.

Wish List

*Display case for merchandise

*Comfortable chairs (easy to move, like padded folding chairs, or wheeled office chairs)

*Computer desk

*Big screen TV (for movie nights) with home theatre (anything we can get will be nice)

*Lockers to securely store patrons' bags

*Locking bookshelves

*Library supplies - shelf dividers, book covers, book pockets, sheets of adhesive labels, label printer

*Author readings
*Hosting and leading discussion groups and classes

Staffing

*Regular, committed people to schedule themselves to help staff the library and assist our members.
*Drop-in help - Shelf organization, calling members for overdue books and membership renewals
*Cataloging books, magazines, tapes and disks

Web Design and Content

This is the crew of volunteers that keeps the library open and thriving.

Everyone of good will, sound mind and high intention is welcome.

We currently meet Sundays at noon in our new location - 4000 Aurora Ave No, room 123.

It generally lasts 2 or 3 hours. We often have refreshments

The next Weird Science meeting will be Saturday, August 1, 7:30 pm, at Bob's house, 11044 22nd Ave SW
