It has been quite a while since we posted, but we feel it’s significant to acknowledge the environmental impacts in our world today we are all suffering from, from powerful hurricanes in the South to the record blazing wildfires across the country.
Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to all those families and communities suffering from these devastating storms, and especially to those who have lost everything and those fighting to keep us safe on the front lines.
Even now as we live and work here in the Northwest we are surrounded by thick smoke which restricts our ability to do so many activities we’d normally take for granted. With all that’s going on, its especially important to remember to take care of ourselves. Here is a link to some helpful information regarding smoke safety to bring awareness and importance to protecting ourselves from smoke dangers and keeping our loved ones safe.

The red door has been a trend of sorts for a while, but where did this bold color on a door come from? Though there is no definitive origin, there are many theories that can give some insight. Some of these theories include roots in old religious practices of painting church doors red to ward off evil and evoke a protective sensibility. Another theory stems from the Far East where the ancient Chinese cultures believe it is a lucky color and invokes positive energy. A third explanation leads us to 19th century England when inn keepers and others would paint their doors this color to indicate to weary travelers and passersby that they were welcomed, to provide a place of rest and hospitality on their journeys. Red is a bold color that has captured the minds and hearts of many throughout time and can add a fresh touch of warmth to any entry. What do you think of red doors? Would you ever paint your front door red? With creativity and a little thoughtful reflection, maybe another color would be more suitable to celebrate your individual personality and style. We hope this inspires you to think about your entryway and if it is sending the message you want it to. Best wishes from us at W Designs!
