Iām honored to have my writing on Equitable Economics included in the most recent journal of the .idarolfinstitute.
Making Rolfing Structural Integration accessible to more people is a passion of mine. I believe it is absolutely at the heart and mission of our work. In this article, I outline ideas to implement more equitable economic models into oneās practice, and pose tough questions about how we think about money in general.
I am thrilled to discuss this topic with anyone interested. Send me a DM or email me!

Honestly, the first thought when I saw this quotation was āDang, thatās a lot of pressure! Not only do I have to keep my body healthy for myself but for the cosmos too?!ā
Then I remembered that I have been conditioned to believe that a for a woman in America means: skinny, hungry, toned, plucked, waxed, small, etc. Iām sure each of us could fill in the blanks with what weāve been conditioned to think healthy is.
What if, instead, just for today or even just for the next 2 minutes *healthy* = breathing, meeting yourself where you are, resting, calling a loved one, turning off the news, or even closing this app and going outside!
Letās be kind to ourselves. Thatās healthy to me.
p.s. I do love the message. Weāre part of the cosmos. When we tend our plants and keep them healthy, it makes us feel good, right? Works both ways!
Photo ID: Quote over a forest photo background that reads: āKeeping your body healthy is an expression of gratitude to the whole cosmos--the trees, the clouds, everything.ā Said by Thich Nhat Hanh.

Washington State recently āreopened.ā On top of the normal frenetic, excited energy of summer, I can feel both the desire to expand, be social, go out, alongside the trepidation of removing the protective shells weāve necessarily built around ourselves over the last year+. Not to mention those of us who donāt feel safe, or have health conditions that make emerging from the pandemic extremely complicated, if not impossible.
Our Rolfing sessions can be particularly helpful during this moment to , calming and balancing the whole of you to feel energized to pursue whatever level of āreopenā you feel comfortable with!
Body in Practice Rolfing is considered a healthcare setting in WA. Therefore, weāll continue to mask-up for the foreseeable future, even if weāre both fully vaccinated. Safety is our community responsibility.

āWow, I feel.. more balanced
⦠my foot/knee/hip pain is gone
⦠I have a spring in my step
⦠I could walk for miles
⦠more of the ground beneath me
⦠like I have new feetā
Just some of the things clients say after having their feet worked on. š£

One of my favorite things about being back in the is access to hiking. It helps me feel grounded to be out amongst the trees and chirping birds, and away from my desk (yes, I have a desk) and the loudness of the city.
has helped me to soak up nature even more as I donāt have too look at the ground too much as I follow the trail. Sound insane? Since I receive regularly, not only is my body loose and spacious, able to move easily--but my brainās maps of where my body is in space are āupdated.ā My is on lock. I know where my feet are and whatās under them.
So, if you want to hike and actually *enjoy* the scenery--not to mention how your neck might hurt after looking down AND carrying that backpack--contact me!

Texting, typing, mouse-ing. We all do it and our forearms get tighter and tighter.
Check out how my clientās wrists are levitated off the table in the before picture (peep the shadows). His forearms were so restricted from work and exercise that the fascia felt like layers of tight saran wrap around his muscles.
After a few minutes of work on his tissue and having my client move his wrist, hand and fingers, his forearms were able to release and relax on the table.
So many of our activities involve repetitive motion and gripping. can help you find relief and functionality in daily life--whether work or play!
Description: A before photo of a client lying faceup on the table with significant space between the table and his forearms and wrists above an after photo of his wrists and forearms lying significantly closer to the table. Title reads āforearm transformation.ā

Rolfers have jokes too! š
Today is Dr. Rolfās birthday. These images are of her working at nearly 80 years old!
I feel a lot of ways about Dr. Rolf. I respect her as a woman who earned her Biochemistry PhD from Columbia in the 1920s(!), and who then gave birth to her own system of bodywork. But like many historical figures, there are unsavory stories about her that problematize her legacy.
For some time she didnāt want to train women because they werenāt strong enough or their hands were too small. An article written in the past year quotes her as saying Rolfers shouldnāt bother working on African Americans. Her ideas about how a body āshouldā be presuppose an ideal based on ideas.
I am uneasy about gurus in any context. I have colleagues that have photos of Dr. Rolf in their office. Her face watches over each classroom at the Rolf Institute. While some believe we should practice Rolfing as she created it, as a scientist I think she would have wanted us to respond to new information about fascia, the nervous system, etc.
This is a brief example/distillation of a complex issue. But when people ask me about the history of Rolfing, we have to be honest about how her ideas filter into our present and our practices. We have to liberate ourselves from the āideallyā and the āshouldsā and the ānormals.ā
So, to all the people out there that have figureheads they have mixed feelings about, Iām right there with you. To my clients, know that your body has an inherent strength and order--and thatās the legacy of Dr. Rolf I choose to share with you in our .

šøOne of the best things about returning to my hometown of is seeing the Rhododendrons blooming at the Arboretum. š³ They remind me itās Spring and time to get outside.
I can feel the pent up energy to get out from the whole city. Iāve been seeing a lot of folks lately who are ready to get back to the activities they love. can help you do that safely, juicing up your tissue to get you back out on the trail, the field, in the garden, etc. Because we ALL know the feeling of jumping back into our old (ahem, pre-pandemic) and wished weād gone slower, or arenāt able to recover as quickly as we used to. Iām here to support you in doing what you love!
I love my clients, and I am so grateful to do what I do! Thank you, Sterling!

Katy is an incredible bodyworker! I feel lucky to have found her! She is fully present and curious at each session, tuning in to what is going on in my body in the moment. I feel truly cared for and fully seen in the space that she creates during each treatment.
ā¢
Before Katy, Iād had weeks of intense pain and had already gone to multiple practitioners and tried different therapies. It wasnāt until I worked with her that I felt a significant shift in my body. This shift set me on the path to recovery. Before her, I felt stuck, and Katy was able to put my body back into motion. I also appreciated that throughout the treatment, she expertly guides you through different movements and breathwork, checking in to make sure that my body was responding well. I highly recommend Katy!!
