Happy Holidays from ARC Architects! If you are visiting Leavenworth and enjoy the new public plaza and restrooms - you're welcome. This holiday season we hope for drier skies and for the waters to recede. We are thankful for our state highway workers and officers, for construction crews working hard all over on clean up and repairs, and for city managers, staff, and engineers working hard on assessment and solutions.

It is with sadness that we share the passing of one of ARC Architects founding partners- Dave Rutherford. Dave had a passion for committing ARC to projects and involvement in the public arena. He served on the city’s Arts Commission, the city’s Design Commission, and served on the Board of Environmental Works. He spearheaded ARC’s recognition as a design firm focusing on the greater community. Working with the public, these projects included numerous community centers, city halls, tribal projects, facilities for seniors and one of the first projects with the City of Seattle for a 60 bed residential facility treating mental health issues for the homeless. Dave also led ARC into the important study of sustainable design, pushing early for our work to consider the environment at every stage of design and construction. For the staff at ARC, Dave was a steadfast leader, an encouraging mentor, and a dear friend who will be sincerely missed.

ARC has been working with Plymouth Housing on two of their current projects, the Pacific Apartments in Seattle and the LaQuinta conversion project in Kirkland. ARC really enjoyed working with Seattle Parks and Recreation on this community focused project! It has become a hub of activity for the community and a fun place to connect, play, and swim. ARC continues our aquatic design work with other cities, including Covington, Fircrest, Renton, South Whidbey Parks, and PenMet Parks District.

The city’s best aquatic facility is much more than just a pool. Here’s why Rainier Beach Pool, the gem of the Seattle pool system, has a slide, a hot tub, classes and late-night teen swims. But swimmers say people make the pool great.

Wenatchee City Hall renovation has been a journey to retrofit an old marble-clad, windowless USPS into a light filled, welcoming place for the community and city employees. Such an amazing transformation!

Ready for snow removal - Bonney Lake Public Works is enjoying their new facility. A big shout out to all public works employees for keeping our communities safe and clean.

Today we share the early progress on a new building designed with Suquamish Tribe - the Chief Kitsap Academy Commons.

Finally the Grand Opening for the Fircrest Community Center! The public process and input on this project contributed greatly to the successful design. Sited at the edge of the City's central park and gathering place, the building connects on all sides to the park and the community - welcoming everyone to gather, share, and celebrate together.
