Some mornings fog is trapped between Seattle & the Eastside. As the fog burns off varied hughes of blue, gray & silver color the lake. Minute to minute the light shifts as luminance builds. I’m pleased with the quiet impression these images hold. The vastness of the lake is accented by eerie tranquility.

Photographing people at 21mm is so bizarre, the background doesn’t fall off, the environment is as much of a character as the subject. I find myself giving the background more thought than the subject, it’s a fun exercise.

Sometimes I get so caught up in composition I’m not seeing perceiving color as much as I’d like too, something to work on next year :)

Attempting to grasp onto a people & an environment without being blatantly exploitative, creating an image more than a sensory souvenir…even if we all walked away with an experience, does it feel right…in this context it did. Our western media doesn’t depict Egyptians as black people, to interact with them and document them felt right.
