Congregation Beth Shalom is welcoming and inclusive Conservative egalitarian synagogue in Seattle, Washington. We rededicated our new building in January, 1998.

Welcome to Congregation Beth Shalom

The story of Congregation Beth Shalom began in 1968 when a small group of families met to create a congregation dedicated to the ideals of Conservative Judaism within the city of Seattle. Their aim was to build an institution which would serve the spiritual, educational, social and cultural needs of Jews interested in retaining their traditional heritage. For t

Be sure to make your donation for Mishloach Manot AND Matanot L'evyonim for Purim this year with Beth Shalom - https://www.bethshalomseattle.org/form/mishloach-manot-2026.html

Our Social Action Committee identified the following places to support with the Matanot L’evyonim funds collected during Purim: Purim Day Meal at St. Dunstan’s and their Tuesday Meals delivery, Mazon, Leket, JFS Food Bank, Food Lifeline, Northwest Harvest and the Free Little Pantry at CBS.

Excited to share that our new induction range has arrived and is now up and running in the Beth Shalom kitchen, with gratitude to the dedication of our Ahavat V’Avodat HaAdama (“Love and Service of the Earth”) team, especially Tamar Libicki.

As a way to live our values of environmental justice as a synagogue, Beth Shalom decided that transitioning from our gas range and oven in the kitchen to an electric induction range was more energy efficient and healthier for our cooks in the kitchen. (Induction tops also will not burn you!)

Thank you to all the members who purchased challah towards the fundraiser for the induction range, and to a very generous anonymous donor. This project was also made possible in part by the Adamah Climate Action Fund through a $3,000 grant from Adamah, the largest Jewish environmental organization in North America. adamah.org/coalition

With the High Holidays behind us, we at Beth Shalom are excited to dive back in to many other projects that we'd put on the back burner. One that we're especially excited about is our ongoing project to fully electrify our kitchen, made possible in part by the Adamah Climate Action Fund, and through the amazing (and delicious) Electric Challah fundraiser by member Tamar Libicki.

Antisemitism on Campus: Supporting Students and Their Families
Thursday, 8/8 from 5:00pm pst on Zoom

Our students are returning to campus this September. Reflecting on the events of this past year, how can we support them this year and more? We've brought together three informed guest speakers, moderated by Rabbi Aaron Brusso, Senior Rabbi of Bet Torah in Mt Kisco, NY, to provide skills and tools for parents and students.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our Art Kits for Israel fundraiser! We were able to cover to cost of 100 kits (each used by 4 children) and have a little extra to donate!

The CBS Religious School needs your help with our special Yom Ha'atzmaut fundraiser and project! We need to raise an additional $4,000 in order to pay for supplies, to pack, and send 100 art kits to children in Israel who have experienced trauma. These kits are designed to slow or stop the onset of new cases of PTSD. Families in the CBS Religious School will pack the kits. You can learn more about the project here: https://www.artists4israel.org/emergencyresources. It is something hands on that we, as a community, can do for Yom Ha’atzmaut this year! I encourage you to consider donating to this project; event $18 will help make it possible, or if you can $54 pays for one kit. You can donate at this link: https://www.bethshalomseattle.org/form/healing-kit-donation; feel free to share with others that you think would be interested as well.
