Paula Devon Raso Interior Design
Paula Devon Raso Interior Design & Space Planning This voyage always begins with listening and observing.
For more than 30 years, it has been our great pleasure to have helped our clients experience the design process as a voyage of discovery, exploration and enjoyment. With understanding not merely what the client wants, but what the client needs. One of our great satisfactions is in knowing that the end of our journey together is simply the beginning of our client's enjoyment of their new living space!

Believe it or not, even the hotel picture is a mural, at least above the ground floor. These treasures appear throughout the downtown area of Lyons, France.

On offer - A stunning vintage altar table, 32″ wide x 72″ long x 32″ high, in great condition.
In its previous incarnations this table has been used as a desk and a landing station in an entryway. Wherever it is placed, this lovely piece would make a subtle, elegant statement.
(Well-priced at $595. View at Modele's in Magnolia 206-287-9942 )

Pictures, artifacts, and treasures of all types draw our loving attention when they are paired with items in frequent use. A home is not a museum, so there is no need to keep these objects isolated and alone.

Paint - Below is a photo of the BhulBhulaiya arches in Lucknow, India. They are a great reminder for anyone picking a paint color that tone, hue, and depth in relation to color never stays the same. Many elements can alter a color dramatically, such as, illustrated here LIGHT and SHADOW. Other variants include ANGLE, DISTANCE, the SURROUNDINGS, and DECORATIVE FEATURES.
So, when I select colors to present to a client, I make sure they see how that color will "act" on all of the surfaces where it is used.

We are lucky in the Pacific Northwest to often have views that the world would envy. This fortunate reality will often mean a shift in the design theme. In the examples below, notice that the furniture retains a low profile and the neutral color schemes do not detract from the splendor of the view. The goal, of course, is to provide a frame for the glories of the trees, water, and mountains.

COMFORT IS KEY! The last year has been a time of many challenges as Covid-19 cut us off from our friends and family, favorite places, and activity options. Without exception, articles on coping during the time of Covid-19 stress COMFORT in all its forms:
1. Accessories - pillows, soft and luxurious throws
2. Lighting - lamps for reading versus ceiling, added candle light
3 Furniture - If you have been holding off getting that ergonomic office chair, now is the time to make the purchase. Comfortable and appropriate seating adds to productivity and satisfaction.
4. Food - teas, homemade treats, healthy, flavorful, and soothing meal choices - Check out "How to Hygge" by Signe Johansen.
5. Nature - The poets and philosophers were right. Nature heals. A short walk amid flowers and trees can reduce high blood pressure and lessen stress.
6. Pets - Animal shelters and pet stores are having trouble keeping pets in stock. They are being adopted almost before they are processed. Why? Nothing gives comfort like unconditional love.
7. Art - Put items you love front and center. They can alter your mood with every gaze. Here, you'll see a small canvas of my great-niece, Aziza.
