Thank you so much Salish Sea Ceramic Studio for a well-organized event! What a wonderful community of crafters, and we were so honored to be a part of it🖤

Happy December 2022 everyone. What a way to start it! I guess this year wants to go out with a bang not a whimper.
If you have been thinking of us following our Small Biz Saturday Big Event….it went great! And it didn’t rain, and it’s been nice to relax following with the snow days. Thank you to everyone who came out,showed up and supported the studio for our Small Business Saturday Big Event! It’s a long list of makers, businesses, studio assistants, musicians, family members, students and locals of the Everett Community being supportive and rad. Only gonna get better from what we are all learning. However, pottery stops for no one and we have more stuff happening in the next month. Lots of classes this weekend and looking forward to Station KSER 90.7 having more radio announcements for us in the next few weeks. we are busy planning and selling our next series classes starting in February. Feel free to drop by the studio on your walk and soak up the inspiration and see what we are up to neighbor!

Friends, BlackLabdanum is turning 1 today🐉🖤👶
It’s crazy to think a year has passed already - feels like just yesterday I packed the first orders (and let me say this again - I’ll always remember your support on the opening day! I was very much blown away!🖤)

BlackLabdanum started over 5 years ago as a blog about scents (my lifelong fascination), continued as Instagram page (where I’ve found so many great people) and finally evolved into the shop with my own creations - something that was never planned but happened naturally as the only logical metamorphosis.
•
I chose candle as my (starting) medium as I am myself a big admirer of the living flickering flame that transforms any space.
It’s mysterious, transportive, romantic, it makes you feel calm, cozy, “safe”. It’s a whole ritual🕯🖤
•
In case you’re wondering, this year has NOT been easy, by any means🙂 As all of you small business owners know, entrepreneurship can be quite frustrating - to me personally, wearing many hats, sometimes at once, is the most challenging part (don’t you wish you had a clone or two of yourself?!). I do have an incredible family team though, to back me up when I need it.
Has it been rewarding? Getting such warm feedback from many of our customers has proven to be so worth it! Yes, it has also been a very fulfilling year, and a lot of fun!🖤 And I’m certainly looking forward to many more to come.

We’re really happy about how our newest fall additions turned out! There are 6 of them.
Meet number one: Brittsommar.
The name comes from Swedish - it describes a period of warm sunny days in the beginning of Fall. Here in northern hemisphere it’s one of the most enjoyable times of the year!🍁☀️
For its scent we used the most fragrant fruits of late summer - peach, apricot and grapes. It’s realllly fruity!🍇🍑
•
All Fall candles will go live on September 1st, discounted preorder dates will be August 28-31 (something new we’re trying this season!)

I made our room sprays 1.7 times more concentrated than standard so that these bottles would go a long way🌿
Our favorite ways to use them -

🫧A couple spritzes for the shower, instead of a shower steamer
🌙 3-4 sprays for the bedroom to fall asleep with a mellow soothing scent
🍃Koala Klub also has some bonus bug repellant properties - thanks to high content of eucalyptus and other naturals. Not a lot of mosquitos here in the but it’s good to keep spiders away😊

All four fragrances are made in-house, as usual, as a summer alternative to our candles:

•Temple - with Ylang Ylang, grapefruit and patchouli

•Koala Klub - with Eucalyptus (Radiata, Blue Mallee and Globulus), fir balsam and citrus oils - bergamot, lemon, sweet orange

• Drifting in the Breeze - with linden blossom, poppy and lemon

• and one of the favorites - Over the Woods, Into the Night - with natural essence of apricot, cedarwood and silver fir.

I wonder, how would you put them to use?

Let me talk a bit about mushrooms🍄
I’m no expert, but definitely a big admirer of these pillars of civilization. As well as an idea of using the scents of fungi in perfumery (some even remember I have a wonderful one-of-a-kind mushroom perfume created by fūm).
•
I’ve had the idea of making this ‘shroom-scented candle for a while, and here it is - Amanita Anima with notably earthy but “polished” and fresh fragrance of raw mushroom flesh - combined with oakmoss for the realistic environment feel, and also with a gentle floral touch (which is actually barely there in the hot throw, not to overwhelm the “star” of the scent, just to accent the freshness and take it further away from the “edible” direction).
