Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) โ also known as EFT Tapping โ is quickly becoming a widely-accepted and effective evidence-based strategy to reduce emotional distress. Many prominent therapists and psychologists, including trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk, use a form of tapping with their clients, and now you can too. This workshop provides you with the introductory skills you need to start using basic tapping techniques. Through observation, lecture, and practice, you will learn the history of tapping and the psychology and science behind its success.

Increasingly, the โmindfulness movementโ is influencing Western culture in education, business and mental health care. Different clinical interventions called Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIโs) have been developed to effectively treat clientโs suffering from chronic pain, depression, anxiety, substance use, suicidality and more.
While psychological interventions are typically knowledge based and directed toward client change irrespective of the clinicianโs health and wellbeing, MBIโs are quite different. They require teachers to practice what they preach. A mindfulness-based therapist is ethically obligated to teach from oneโs own lived experience.

Historically mental health treatment for suicidal individuals has involved extensive psychopharmacology, repeated cognitive behavioral self-esteem and stress reduction exercises, or deep therapy into family of origin issues, all proven to be ineffective in long term prevention of su***de.
This workshop presents original concepts in the development of suicidality as an ingenious coping mechanism which develops over time. The brainโs neuroplasticity forms neural pathways which underpin the reinforcing suicidal thought pattern. Brain retraining provides formation of new healthful neural pathways. The healing process is directed, encouraged and supported through a specifically designed peer protocol based on existing evidence-based social support.

Providing mental health care during the pandemic has required systems and clinicians to change, adapt and learn new knowledge and skills quickly, effectively, and often with little support. Flexibility, ingenuity, and urgency have been the name of the game this past year. Many clinicians are depleted, exhausted, feeling numb, and even emotionally callused.
Well, it is finally time to pause and begin tending to what you need as part of your job instead of one more thing to do outside of work. With restrictions now lifting, we can find solace in the company of colleagues gathering in small groups.

Women are cyclical beings living in a linear world. They are socialized to ignore the gifts of their cyclical nature in exchange for gaining equality in the linear arena. This comes with a high price tag: women constantly attempt to fit a round peg into a square hole, which is exhausting, depleting, and draining for both professional women and their women-clients.
Cyclicity is an essential part of womenโs mental health, enhanced or depleted by a womanโs relationship with it. Rarely do mental health professionals take this cycle into consideration, and the culture at large diminishes it to a mere inconvenience at best, or a medical condition at worst. Reclaiming the gifts of cyclicity is long overdue

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is the power and necessity of connection. Group therapy has been around a long time and is known by many as a highly effective, evidence-based treatment modality for a variety of mental health and relational issues. However, engaging clients in this treatment has been difficult โ and the use of video-only options makes it even worse! How do you get buy-in for a connection-based treatment that is done virtually?

Therapists are becoming increasingly aware of the harm that has been/is being done to clients when healthcare settings (including counseling practices) focus on weight and weight loss as a primary goal. Most therapists, however, have not been trained in how to have conversations with their clients about body shame, weight stigma, healthism, diet culture, and sizeism. How, then, do therapists help clients heal body shame in a weight-obsessed world when our culture is obsessed with weight being an indicator of health?
