Modern handmade ceramics, vases, lamps and whimsical pottery Handmade vases, lamps and tableware.

Contemporary pottery in organic shapes designed and produced by Kristin Nelson in Seattle. VIT ceramics have thin white line detail, a Scandinavian sensibility, practical yet soft and are mid-century modern compatible. Original Kri Kri with whimsical black line decoration, made its debut at Barneys New York. Nelson studied weaving in Sweden and went on to get a degree in ceramics from the University of Washington. She now designs and produces both VIT ceramics and Kri Kri pottery in Seattle WA

Its fun to try new things. However, it's not always easy to start. Sometimes, usually, one gets stuck somewhere in the middle. But solving the problem is part of the pleasure. I'm trying to make time to be creative in different ways and enjoy my little successes.

Yesterday we made a detour. We had heard about the low tide & on impulse, decided to check it out. It was the seaweed that captured my attention, but there is plenty to see if one takes the time to look. We weren't there long but our visit was refreshing. A nice break!

My neighbors
I met Melissa Fevyere, who's been In business now for 20 years, when she moved her shop to the corner of 74th & Greenwood in Seattle. She started selling my range of vases almost immediately & continues to carry my bud vases. Every single person I've met, there has been wonderful. The shop is ever evolving, but always beautiful. It's a lovely day when I get to pop in to pick up or deliver, sometimes just smiles & a hug.

Inspiration is everywhere!
Colors of winter sky, platelets of falling snow and splats of rain have been on my mind recently so I set myself down to capture this on a large bubble pendant. It's fun to stray from the thin white stripes every now & then. However, if one were to look closely, they'd see that there are stripes under the spots. This piece had unwanted smudges on it. Rather than toss it, I decided to experiment.
It was an opportunity to try something new.

In 2004 we left Kuujjuak to paddle around the northern tip of Labrador. Allthough it had been traveled for thousands of years, it was now uninhabited. My partner, Nigel Foster, had paddled his kayak across the Hudson Strait 1981. He was unable to finish the trip but always wanted to. I encouraged him to plan a return trip and said I would join him, but I wouldn't paddle across the Hudson Strait!
March 26th, Nigel will give a presentation about his book, "On Polar Tides", which covers both trips, history, anectdotes & encounters with polar bears. Of course, I'll be there too!

This is a benefit for
It will be in Seattle at the Good Shepherd Home.
All are welcome & we hope you can join, one way or another.

We plan to have a zoom link too, so dm me for the link.

The book is always available on Amazon

I'm trying g to make a drawing or painting every day while visiting my parents. It's so difficult!! 🤪
This is one of a blister bug that I spotted on my walk yesterday. Approximately 5"x1.5", the painting, that is 😄
The bug is about 2" long!

Working out details & fine tuning for some projects can take a long time. It was almost 2 years before I could see these finished products installed. Before that, design drawings & tests for glazes needed to be created as well as wiring that would be appropriate for this indoor/outdoor dining room in tropical Costa Rica.
The 1st thing that springs into my mind when I imagine warm climate decor is either colors or white. I was impressed by the designers' choice of deep greens. The result is cool & classy with references to ancient Mezo American stonework.

It was a pleasure working with Rosa from Studio Collective, such a good communicator.
