We're so proud of our CTO Ravs Kaur. Learn more about her in the post below.

— Beating the Odds

Tough times either break you or make you strong. The decision is all yours what you are willing to choose. Today's founder came out as a leader conquering all the obstacles.

Meet Ravs Kaur, CTO and co-founder at Uplevel, a platform to boost productivity for engineering and a Madrona Venture Labs spinout. The Seattle-based tech startup raised $7.5 million this January.

She remembers that one night of August 1990 when she was 9 and her brother woke her up informing her that Iraq had invaded Kuwait. Kaur always gives credit to her father for the leadership skills she has. It was her father who showed her how leaders should tackle the situations amid such harrowing experiences.

The whole family fled Kuwait and then stayed in India for almost two years as refugees. Those were the pivotal moments where Kaur found herself as a leader.

Prior to Uplevel, she worked with Tableau Software for 6 years, and for more than a decade, she worked with Microsoft. Her leadership was challenged during that journey too with the questions like whether she is just a representation of commitment towards diversity or she really earns the position.

But later, she realized that such slights are not just individual, every woman has to face the same. employHER applauds you for not giving up at any cost and giving us a role model to follow.
