Clean Lake Union

The final piece is in place!

The new interpretive sign has been installed at the Eastern Avenue Street-End Bioswale, marking the official completion of this project.

This bioswale is now capturing and cleaning an estimated 250,000 gallons of stormwater each year, helping protect Lake Union and the salmon that depend on clean water.

Thank you to the partners, volunteers, and supporters who helped bring this project to life. We’re proud to see it fully finished and working for our lake and community.

Clean Lake Union is excited to be in the final stage of the Eastern Avenue Bioswale. On Friday, November 7th, we’ll be planting hundreds of native plants that will help filter stormwater before it reaches Lake Union.

We’re looking for 20–30 volunteers to help us complete this project. No experience is required. We’ll provide tools and guidance. Just bring your energy and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

We’re in business! This morning, opened the valve to activate the bioswale at Northlake Commons. This system will treat 2.6 million gallons of stormwater annually. A huge thank you to SPU for their partnership on this important project!

Despite the dry summer, our dedicated CLU intern Billy Wagner didn’t let the lack of rain stop him! He made the most of Saturday’s storm, heading out late at night to collect stormwater samples. Huge thanks to Billy for his commitment! 🌧️💧
