🌙 Lunar Eclipse Prayer Tonight – 9:00 PM

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

InshaAllah, there will be a lunar eclipse tonight, and in accordance with the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet ﷺ, we will gather at the masjid to perform Salat al-Khusuf (صلاة الخسوف) – the Lunar Eclipse Prayer.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of the death or life of anyone. So when you see that, call upon Allah, proclaim His greatness (Takbir), pray, and give in charity.”

إنَّ الشَّمسَ والقَمَرَ آيَتانِ مِن آياتِ اللهِ، لا يَخسِفانِ لمَوتِ أحَدٍ ولا لحَياتِه، فإذا رَأيتُم ذلك فادعوا اللهَ وكَبِّروا وصَلُّوا وتَصَدَّقوا.
— Sahih al-Bukhari

We encourage everyone in the community to join us in reviving this beautiful Sunnah and turning to Allah (swt) in prayer, remembrance, du‘a, and charity.

Thank you to the Shorecrest High School MSA for hosting us and putting together an amazing lecture night bringing students from four different high schools together to talk about maintaining our values and identity in today’s world 🌙
