I’m proud to announce the release of “With My Hands on the Ground”. This is a good song and an old song. It’s possibly a little different than my other recent tracks but it sprang from the same well of inspiration and magic.

I recorded a version of this song a long time ago. While working on this remake earlier this year, I found some old saxophone recordings from Daniel Johnson that never made it on the other version. How old, you ask? Oh, almost 19 years ago and 2500 miles away from where I stand today. The call-and-response of the lead guitar and the sax is possibly my favorite part of this song.

Last Friday I released the final single for this album. The track is called “Causeway Song” and the album is called Theta Waves.

It’s been a fun journey putting out these tracks—in the 10 months since “Hurricane” came out, I have learned a lot about music, become a better musician, and practiced ACUALLY FINISHING songs. I have been playing music a long time–over twenty years now–and it is exciting to me that there are still lots of things to learn and do. I’ve learned a ton about filming and editing videos, attempting to promote music online, and ultimately I learned a lot about myself. There’s a full video up now for Causeway Song on the video site.

Causeway Song’s “What’s my genre?” came in pretty close again: Dream Pop (39%), Synthpop (35%), Indie Rock (33%), Psychedelic Rock (28%), Indie Pop (27%) (I would have put psychedelic rock higher).

There’s a lot going on in the world—particularly the US right now—and it’s been overwhelming. That’s one reason I’m posting about this song six days after it came out. That being said, I think it’s important for everyone to keep going, to keep doing and searching for things that bring you joy, to keep doing things that bring you closer together with other people. Keep fighting the good fight but remember that it is a marathon, not a sprint. Try your best, and try your best to not get burned out. I hope everyone is flourishing as best they can. Personally—I am excited for spring being right around the corner.
