Happy new year friends of years past, and new friends who are just now finding my feed! I haven’t painted for a while (that new baby life really kicks your ass), but when I was asked to do a pet portrait commission for a dear friend of mine of his late pup, Mia, I knew I had to make the time.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mia in her younger years, when she was the official mascot of the office I worked at. A total sweetheart to everyone, incredibly smart, and the most popular girl in town. I hope she’s chasing balls with now! She is so loved and missed. 🥹🌈

This will probably be my last commission for a little while - my baby boy is due in just a couple of weeks! I’m thankful for a chance to paint again in between all of the crazy life planning. Hoping that the hiatus won’t be for too long. For all of the other mamas out there - when do you sneak in your time for creativity?

Hey, it’s been a second. Life has been a little crazy lately (on top of the political turmoil we’ve all been m witnessing and experiencing the last few months). Hoping I can get back to my creative endeavors soon, but as a mama-to-be, I’m not sure what to expect in terms of free time. Any advice is welcome, haha. 🫶🏻

I hardly have time to doodle for myself these days, and during the times I actually sit down to do it, I usually hate what I sketch. Today isn’t one of those days! Is this what sketching feels like to you??

I read a thread the other day from another artist that if they came across an artist’s feed that was full of reels, they wouldn’t follow them. Their reasoning was that they still wanted to enjoy the craftsmanship of the artists work by studying the images too. What camp are you in??
