First Gen Cohorts

Susana, one of our Beta Cohort members, shares how she learned the importance of all her experiences, even those that she did not feel were directly relevant to her career goals. She provides an important message about being open to different job and opportunities.

Clem Mooc, one of our Alpha Cohort members, shares his story by sharing his parents story of resilience, strength, and sacrifice. He tells this story with vulnerability and empathy for parents and children of refugees. We are thankful that he is willing to share his experience with us.

In celebration of Women's History Month, we honor our co-founder, Carla Corkern's history through a blog she wrote about her grandmother Vera Mae who played a pivotal role in inspiring this organization.

Elect Korey Strozier, one of our amazing Alpha Cohorts Coaches, was featured in The News Tribune alongside other influential and inspiring Black candidates running for office in Tacoma. Gabrielle Prawl is a first generation college graduate and a former employee of our co-founder, Betti Fujikado. She is the Senior Art Director at Razorfish NYC and an accomplished professional in the advertising and marketing industry.

We feel lucky that she is willing to share her story and experience as a woman of color and first generation college graduate navigating her career with us. Her story is powerful and inspiring.

First Gen Cohorts invites you to apply to our Beta Cohorts starting in May 2021!

If you are a first generation college graduate in the first four years of your career we recommend you apply as a member of a cohort. If you are a first generation college graduate with growing responsibility with 5+ years of experience we recommend you apply to be a coach of a cohort.

Our application window will close on March 11, 2021 and we will start conducting interviews as applications come in.
