The first single Hanging by a String from Reason Y’s new album has just been released. You should be able to stream it from any mainstream streaming device.

For context, the song was inspired by the story that Roger, my former student, told me about the conditions under which he left his home country as a youth before making a solo journey across the continent in search of refuge and a new life. As a child, he lived in a city ravaged by Hurricane Mitch, which in 1998 caused 11,000 fatalities in Central America and left 1.5 million people homeless in Honduras. In the aftermath of this devastating natural disaster, he saw his community in Tegucigalpa overrun by violent street gangs responsible for the murder of a close member of his family and countless others. As a young teen, he was confronted by an inrefusable evil proposition, forcing him to choose between certain death, a life of violence and crime, or leaving his family and all that he knew with little hope of return on a gamble that he could survive a 2,000+ mile journey, enter this country, build himself a new life completely on his own. It is an amazing story of an amazing man. Here is a link:
