A thin blackened steel reveal highlights the juxtaposition of the monolithic chiseled basalt fireplace mantel and the black valchromat cabinetry for the cocktail bar.

While renovating a craftsman-style home with structural limitations can be challenging, inviting natural light to flow into the area is always possible by opening up the space and opting for an open layout design.

‘SK”X”IC’, our new project on Bainbridge Island, WA State.
‘SKWXWIC’ means Salmon in the native lushootseed language.
For the Suquamish Tribe it symbolizes the eternal cycle of life, in which the old forms leave space to the new.
In the same way this project gives new life to the existing grandfathered-in rambler.
With its generous openings toward the forest, ‘SK”X”IC’ shows how the contemporary life style can live in harmony with the natural surrounding.
