True Measure Collaborative

As a new school year begins, educators are setting routines, building relationships, and thinking about the kind of learning environment they want to create. It is also a good time to start small.

At TMC, coaching is not about trying to change everything at once. It starts with a focused goal, pays close attention to what is happening in practice, and creates space to reflect and adjust over time.

As you head back to school, consider three questions:
1. What is one small, measurable change that could make your classroom more inclusive?�➡️ Why does it matter? TMC coaching starts with one high-leverage goal at a time so change feels practical, focused, and measurable.

2. What would you look for to know that change is working for students?�➡️ Why does it matter? TMC coaching uses observation and direct evidence to understand what is happening in practice and what support may be needed next.

3. What will you practice, reflect on, and adjust as you go?�➡️ Why does it matter? TMC coaching builds capacity over time through practice, feedback, reflection, and adjustment—not one-time implementation.

Back-to-school planning does not have to mean solving everything at once. Start with one meaningful next step, learn from what you see, and keep building from there.

What remains central to TMC’s work in 2026–27?

As our service model evolves, our mission remains the same: building educator capacity to advance equitable opportunities for all students, especially students with disabilities and multilingual learners.

That means continuing to pair professional learning with job-embedded coaching while building the capacity of school leaders to support and coach their own teams.

Our recent evaluation reinforces why that focus matters. In Spring 2026, 89% of surveyed educators said they believe their own practice has influenced student outcomes. Across the case studies, change often appeared first in adult practice—how educators planned, collaborated, responded to behavioral challenges, and supported students in more inclusive settings.

As TMC enters the new school year, the goal continues to be to help schools build the knowledge, practices, and leadership capacity to sustain that work over time.

From General Ed to Special Ed—a journey defined by growth, trust, and showing up.

We are looking for a Director of School Programs who will lead and support schools in serving students furthest from educational justice, including those with disabilities and multilingual learners. The Director will provide direct support to schools, coach and supervise our school programs team, and collaborate with the Executive Director to maximize TMC’s impact and expand its reach across Washington.

As TMC works to meet statewide demand, we’re scaling our Virtual Community of Practice to connect more rural and geographically isolated educators with the coaching, collaboration, and peer learning they need.

Next year, this network will grow to over 50 special education teachers, expanding role-alike coaching and structured peer support. With your support, we’ll build a statewide network where no educator works alone, and no student is left out.
