WE NEED YOU. It is not "legislative session" yet - but the state's budgeting process has begun. And once again, supports for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities are on the table. Like last year, the governor's office is considering changing eligibility for care services. Doing so would drop people, including those getting residential care with potentially nowhere to go. Also on the cutting block: access to employment and community inclusion, respite, personal care, and more.

If this proposal is enacted, an estimated 2,655 people would no longer qualify for disability services through DSHS. Because many receive more than one service, the impacts overlap:

-195 adults and children in Community Residential Services or State Operated Community Residential (SOCR) settings
- 471 people receiving Personal Care services
- 874 people on the Individual & Family Services Waiver, living at home with family
-1,170 people receiving Supported Employment and/or Community Inclusion services
- 325 people receiving respite (non-waiver, out-of-home, or in an Adult Family Home) or licensed staff residential services

Still unknown: how many DDA clients in Adult Family Homes would lose services, and how many adults and children would lose Medicaid coverage altogether when they lose their waiver.

Celebrating Inclusion with the Seattle Storm 💙🏀

We’re so grateful to the Seattle Storm for welcoming Summit Community Center to their first-ever Inclusion Night on August 10!

It was an incredible evening celebrating inclusion, accessibility, and visibility in sports—and we were honored to be part of it. We’re especially grateful that Alicia was recognized alongside other inspiring Seattle leaders for her work advancing inclusion in our community.
