Happy Birthday Charlie- we love and miss you dearly….

Of course this caught my attention as I was scrolling my personal feed, Charlie’s iconic photo surfaces again in a World Press Special Exhibition featuring a selection of awarded World Press photos between 1955-2022. When I read the article, I discovered that it so eloquently put how incredibly important the role of photojournalists are in “shaping our collective memory and creating mutual understanding”.
Thank you to ALL photojournalists that risk your life daily to preserve a truthful record of mankind.
The CVC Legacy Project is based out of the historical artist and cultural building formerly the INS immigration processing building. This past weekend was the first Open Studios in INScape since the pandemic shutdown. Unfortunately I was previously committed to a real estate event but it was a fabulous turn out! I'm so thrilled to see so much coverage and turn out! We look forward to welcoming you with open doors and images to share in the next Open Studios! https://fb.watch/d2GI6ia-JM/

The CVC Legacy Project is taking the week off while waiting for our new Mac and supplies to come in. Precious Angelface- a regular attendee of our bi-weekly meetings- is patiently waiting to hear exciting news of our weekly progress, and to help us plan a three day bender this month of sorting through and organizing parts of Charlie’s collection.

An update from the CVC:
We thought you all would enjoy an update on what we have been doing since our first annual fundraiser in February. As you all know, we are still building the foundation of our project and we are excited to soon be sharing some of Charlie’s incredible photographs.
Currently, we are consulting with lawyers to establish legal copyright protections for Charlie’s work
We have been researching equipment that will best serve us in the process of archiving and cataloging the countless slides and negatives in Charlie’s collection.
Key team members have been researching grant options and attending workshops to better prepare for applications
We are reading and listening to audio from Joan Mitchell’s CALL (Creating A Living Legacy), a program we’re using to base our own best practices
We have been studying Adobe Lightroom, which is an imaging management software, and formulating a best practices Digital Imaging Management Plan
We were also able to move 20 large plastic bins full of images, slides, negatives, and ephemera over to our studio location.
In addition to all this, Susan Cole's birthday Facebook fundraiser brough in an additional $850.00 allowing us to buy our first MacBook Pro.
Your continued support is tantamount to our success and we appreciate each and every one of you supporting our cause. There are great things to come and we are working hard to achieve our goals.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined and supported us for our very first fundraiser! We are so pleased to announce that we reached our goal of $20,000 as donations continued to roll in over the weekend.
A huge special thanks to Heidi Devereux and HeiDisign for your tremendous graphics and marketing expertise, and for all the time you donated to us this past year. Also, many thanks to Michelle Locke and Catalyst Presents for your unwavering support and involvement in the planning process and production of our first virtual event. (You worked as hard as we did!). Thank you to Casey Moser and Shunpike who worked absolute magic behind the scenes. Casey was our “saving grace” through this new process. Jim Langer, videographer extraordinaire for joining us to film, photograph, and collaborate to create the media portions of our gala. Steve Gardner for his music and creating such a special entertainment piece, Fred Northup jr. and Sarah Rudinoff for bringing the show together with their amazing professionalism and energy. And of course, All of our sponsors and donors. Without you, we couldn’t have done this. All of you gave extra of your time and creativity to help us succeed, and we are ever grateful. With the monies raised, we are very excited to move forward in 2022 establishing best practices, and meeting with an attorney about copyright protections for Charlie’s work. This has been an amazing experience and we are excited to see what we can accomplish with your generous donations!
