Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander history is a rich and essential part of Seattle’s history and foundational roots. May 1st - May 31st is Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander heritage month!
Starting in the 1860s, Chinese immigrants helped build a lot of Seattle’s early infrastructure, and from there the city grew into the diverse place it is today. The International District became a lively home for Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, and later Vietnamese communities—each bringing their own culture, stories, and resilience. By the 1920s–30s, Filipino immigrants were already making a big impact on the local community. And after World War II, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities—including Samoan, Tongan, and Chamorro peoples—also put down strong roots, continuing to shape Seattle with their traditions, connections, and strong sense of community.
You can feel that rooted influence in Seattle’s wedding scene, with so many weddings layered in rich Asian, Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander traditions, food, and culture. A lot of AAPHNI vendors bring their own history and lived experience into their work, helping co-create wedding days that feel really personal. There’s something especially meaningful about working with vendors who truly understand that on a deeper level—they can take a couple’s vision and bring it to life in a way that really resonates.
To our Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander vendor friends- we celebrate you, your heritage and legacy today and everyday.

There are days that inspire you and then there are days that shift you.
Our first WIPA Seattle Mastermind was everything we hoped it would be and more. A room filled with creatives who chose to step away from the noise of their day-to-day and into something deeper. Time to think, to refine, to ask better questions, and to actually do the work.
This wasn’t about collecting more ideas to sit on. It was about clarity. Direction. Real momentum.
From honest conversations to meaningful breakthroughs, the energy in the room was undeniable. And being surrounded by a community that understands both the creativity and the business behind what we do, that’s where the magic happens.
To everyone who showed up fully, leaned in, and invested in themselves and their businesses, we see you. We’re so grateful you were in the room with us.
