This wood is called Flaming Box Elder, a species of maple. Can't wait to see whats in here...

My wife bought me a little planer for my shop so that I can make custom cutting boards with my laser!

Classic American Red Elm with grain-popping Tung oil.

I was gifted this piece of red elm. It has huge, open pores. I read that an oil finish is best for this species, so that's what I am going to try (for the first time). Wish me luck!
