Incredibly honored to be bringing home my very first Emmy - but this award goes so far beyond myself.

I am nothing without my team. Every person with me on that stage and beyond adapts, challenges, learns, and grows with me every single day. I have learned so much from every single one of them - my Good Day Seattle family.

Frankly, this was a huge win: Top Morning Newscast in a top 20 market. We were nominated for our dedication to safety and severe weather coverage, and we won for our passion, our raw storytelling, and tenacity for the truth.

Thank you all. Our hard work is paying off. Let's keep the momentum going.

The invisible side of abuse: Inside the mind of a manipulator | The Spotlight 09/06/2022

When looking back on the media's role in reporting on domestic violence, I noticed a disturbing trend: we talk about it when it's too late. A survivor's life has been ripped apart, or someone has been killed. But so much happens in a relationship before that first act of violence.

That's what inspired the latest episode of The Spotlight: we're answering the question, "why did they stay?"

It boils down to a simple name for a complex topic: emotional abuse. So we asked experts, advocates and survivors.

Join us as we dive into the mind of the manipulator:

Your DNA could help solve local John Doe cases, even if you don't know of anyone missing 08/12/2022

I'm celebrating a few firsts this week. Not only did I have the chance to help produce an episode of The Spotlight, but I wrote my first long-form packaged story.

It began with an interview in a morgue, and lead to learning how our viewers can help solve decades-old local mysteries. You can read and watch the whole story below:

Inside the unassuming walls of the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office sits a room full of cardboard boxes. Inside those cardboard boxes are human bones. Some of those bones belong to five men whose names have been lost to time– for now:

I am honored and humbled to be named FOX 13 Seattle's MVP of the month.

It may be my name on the certificate, but I am nowhere without my team. We work long hours, we work late, and we work hard. Most importantly, we have fun and believe in what we do. 💪
